Hands-on - A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Tourbillon Handwerkskunst, celebrating the 200th anniversary of F.A. Lange (live pics & price) - Monochrome Watches
This year was quite special for the magnificent manufacture A. Lange & Sohne, celebrating the 200th birthday of its founder, Ferdinand Adolph Lange (see the history of watchmaking in Glashutte here). 2 first watches had been introduced, 2 special editions dedicated to this event, the 1815 Limited Edition for the 200th Anniversary of F.A. Lange with black dial and the 1815 Limited Edition for the 200th Anniversary of F.A. Lange in honey gold. Naturally, the 1815 was the appropriate model and the pinnacle of this year of celebration is another special edition of a 1815 watch – and not the simplest one. Here is the?A. SIHH 2018 - Davide Cerrato of Montblanc, On The New Collection - Monochrome Watches
Yesterday, we kicked off our series of videos from SIHH 2018 with Fran?ois-Henry Bennahmias, CEO of Audemars Piguet, talking us through the new collection. This morning, we are sitting down with the inimitable Davide Cerrato, Managing Director of Montblanc Watches, to learn about what has inspired the Montblanc collection this year. Not surprisingly, the 160th anniversary of Minerva is a big focus as is the theme of mountain exploration, which, as you will see in the video, has led to some truly cool, vintage-inspired pieces. In our pre-SIHH coverage, we already got hands on with several of the new models that Montblanc is debuting this year, including; the Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph and the TimeWalker Manufacture Chronograph, as well as a few others. One of my personal favourites, so far at least, is the new Montblanc 1858 Automatic Chronograph, which we got hands on with yesterday. The watch offers many of the same design elements as the highly popular 1858 Chronograph T

Montblanc 1858 Automatic Chronograph Blue & Compass Bezel - Price
Taking inspiration from an original Minerva monopusher chronograph of the 1930s, the 1858 Automatic Chronograph now comes with a blue dial and a new bidirectional steel bezel inset with shiny blue ceramic. The 1858 Chronograph kills two birds with one stone: it gives you the look of a 1930's Minerva chronograph?but manages to keep the price in check by not equipping the watch with one its upscale Minerva chronograph movements. For that kind of a treat, you’d be looking at something like this limited-edition 1858 Monopusher Chronograph with a Minerva movement and a price that exceeds this model more than four times.?Mountaineering spiritA vintage-style bi-compax chronograph originally introduced in 2018, this new iteration of the Montblanc 1858 Automatic Chronograph comes with a navy blue dial and a blue ceramic inlay on the bezel engraved with the cardinal points. The addition of the bidirectional compass bezel, identical to the bezel we have just seen on the 1858 Geosphere, situ
The Ultramarine Beluga Dive Watch (Specs & Price)
Dive watches have been a hot item since “The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau” hit the TV screens worldwide over 50 years ago, and rare is the watch company that does not offer a diver’s model. Within one price category, they often share a similar design, performance characteristics are usually on the level, and should you scrape off the brand name, they are the same when laid out in front of you on the table. So, what do you do? You search for something different, something that offers a little extra or strikes a chord. And the search may lead you to the Beluga, the dive watch that Ultramarine added recently to its short list of models.Lionel Bruneau, the founder of the young brand Ultramarine, explains that at one point, he decided to make 100% Swiss watches under his own brand name as he was not satisfied with the market offering of Swiss Made – with a requirement of only 60% of the components’ value to be of a Swiss origin. The Morse and Albatros, th
