Swatch Group (meaning 18 brands) To Leave Baselworld in 2019 - Monochrome Watches
For once, we’re not going to use the “breaking news” title for nothing. What came in this morning is important news, no debate. As reported?by Swiss newspapers NZZ am Sonntag and Le Temps, Swatch Group, the world’s largest watchmaking group, will be leaving Baselworld – Switzerland’s largest watch and jewellery fair – as of next year. After already several departures and complaints, this is another hard blow for the highly?decried show.?In an interview with the Swiss newspaper?NZZ am Sonntag?that was published this morning, Nick Hayek, CEO of the Swatch Group, explains that it is no longer relevant or useful for the group to exhibit at Baselworld – even though the Swatch Group’s brand portfolio was one of the major, if the not the main, exhibiting groups of the show. Mr Hayek explains that the costs of such a fair are extremely high for the group and its brands – in excess of CHF 50 million for the group, including?travel expe
Hands-On With The Splendid Parmigiani Tonda PF Micro-Rotor In Platinum
Introduced in 2021, the?Tonda PF collection accomplished two missions: one was to celebrate the brand’s 25th?anniversary and the distinguished career of master watchmaker and founder Michel Parmigiani; the second was more long-term and designed to mark the new roadmap for the watch brand under CEO?Guido Terreni. Positioned as the brand’s luxury sports watch with integrated bracelet, the Tonda PF is as classy as they come. During Watches & Wonders 2023, Parmigiani Fleurier unveiled its Tonda PF Micro-Rotor dressed from head to toe – case, bracelet, dial, bezel and rotor – in 950 platinum. With its sober, monochrome aesthetics, deliberate minimalism and slim profile, the Tonda PF Micro-Rotor is, in our eyes, the essence of sophistication and understatement. The BackstoryThe Tonda PF luxury sports watch collection is rooted in the classic ultra-slim Tonda dress watch collection designed by Michel Parmigiani. There’s a wide choice in this collection, ranging from elegant models to more instrumental watches?or military-inspired pieces. Most of them deserve attention, but one, in particular, stands out for us at MONOCHROME, and that is the Heritage Classic Sector Dial. Retrospective - The Entire Omega Seamaster x James Bond 007 History - Monochrome Watches
Neither of them need an introduction. On one side is the most famous special agent in the world. On the other side is one of the most respected Swiss watch brands. And their collaboration is as explosive as the movies. While in most films, watches only make?short screen appearances, with James Bond 007, this accessory has gained a totally different status, becoming a character on its own. Here is an exhaustive retrospective of all Omega watches used in James Bond movies, from 1995 Goldeneye to 2015 Spectre. The Omega X Bond collaboration started with the actual revival of the series, as for quite a number of?years, the 007 franchise languished?in the shadows.
