Weekly Watch Photo - Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph 5980/1A - Monochrome Watches
The Patek Philippe Nautilus is one of those watches that has been on my personal wish-list for a long time. A few days ago I had the chance to try the Nautilus Chronograph ref.5980/1A on my wrist and now I know it… it made it to the top of my wish-list instantly.?I know, I know… on Monochrome there has also been moaning about the yearly price increases and the price of this specific stainless steel chronograph, which is close to € 40.000 Euro (including taxes). I still think the price is too high, however on the other hand I really want this watch. After trying it on my wrist at Leon Martens,?one of the few Patek Philippe dealers in the Netherlands, I was convinced the Nautilus Chronograph is THE perfect all-round watch. Dressy, casual, sporty and incredibly comfortable. Ad - Scroll to continue with article When I have time for it I read several foru
The Collector's Series - Our own Koen and his affordable and cool Tissot Heritage Navigator - Monochrome Watches
Sometimes it's doesn’t take much. It could be a friend's recommendation. It could be a brands heritage or even how they finish their movements that draws a collector. It's always fascinating finding out what that tipping point was for a particular collector on a particular occasion. Often we get caught up in the price we are asked to pay for a watch and it is always refreshing to hear a collector smitten with a watch that is not out of the reach of the many. And this week, this watch is the affordable Tissot Heritage Navigator. This is not the first time Koen Simon has featured on the series. We covered his IWC watches here and here. Many may not be aware of the vast history Tissot boast. They were in actual fact the first manufacturer to introduce a mass-produced pocket watch in 1853. They released the first pocket watch with two time zones the same year. They also released the first mass-produced watch to feature 24 time zones, the Tissot Navigator, in 1953, which is the precise
Introducing the Omega DeVille Hour Vision BLUE for Orbis - Monochrome Watches
Blue is the new black. That was something we heard a lot this year at the SIHH and Baselworld. Many watch brands introduce watches with a blue dial and we at Monochrome do fancy some of them. IWC on the other hand, introduces an annual limited edition with a BLUE?dial that is dedicated to a good cause, like this one. Now Omega also introduces a watch with a striking blue dial, and dedicated to a good cause. The Omega DeVille Hour Vision Blue is dedicated to the world's only Flying Eye Hospital, named Orbis.Omega chose two to launch two blue dial version of the Constellation and the DeVille Hour Vision on which we’ll focus here today. When the DeVille Hour Vision was introduced in 2007, it was THE watch?that introduced Omega’s Co-Axial calibre 8500/8501. It was the first calibre with the new co-axial escapement and these?movements were entirely created in-house. The Omega DeVille Hour Vision features a unique case with a?360¡ã see-through case-body which is set in a robust 41

Watchmaking collaborations are thriving, often yielding extraordinary results and offering a select group of collectors the chance to possess distinctive timepieces. In today’s showcase, Collective Horology, a California-based members-only club dedicated to crafting collaborative watches for enthusiasts, joined forces with the venerable Oris from Holstein. Together, they delved into the emblematic Divers Sixty-Five model, presenting a fresh perspective – a design that, while never realized by Oris in the 1970s, could seamlessly fit into the brand’s historic repertoire. Please welcome the new Oris Divers Seventy-Five Calibre 400 C.04 for Collective Horology.Remaining true to the core aesthetic of the original 1960s Oris Waterproof, the stainless steel case of the 40mm Divers Seventy-Five is paired with a bronze bezel, echoing the case and bezel shape of its inspirational predecessor. The design retains the large crown without guards, a distinctive feature preserved in
The 2021 Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 Editions
Vacheron Constantin's famous cushion-shaped watch with an intriguing twist celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. The twist that has made the Historiques American 1921 such a legendary watch is its diagonal time display and crown perched on the upper right corner of the case. To commemorate its centennial, Vacheron unveils two white gold models, in 40mm and 36.5mm cases, and a special limited 40mm platinum edition that will form part of the Collection Excellence Platine. All three models are powered by Vacheron's in-house manual-winding calibre 4400 AS. Let's have a closer look. Roaring TwentiesA century later and still going strong, Vacheron Constantin's American 1921 was produced primarily for the American market between 1919 and 1921 in very limited numbers. Coinciding with the Roaring Twenties, the American 1921 captured the design mood of the decade and the newfound optimism following the end of WW1. Widespread prosperity animated a consumer c
