The Petrolhead Corner: The 2025 Formula 1 Season Preview
It’s almost “Lights out, and away we go!” for the 2025 Formula 1 season, as this weekend it all kicks off Down Under. The 20 best drivers in the world will be chasing glory once more over the course of 24 races. Will Max Verstappen make it five in a row? Will Lando Norris clinch his first? Will Lewis Hamilton get Ferrari back on top and claim his eighth? Will any of the rookies win a race? No one knows for now, but it will be another very interesting year, and I can’t wait to see what unexpected and perhaps shocking twists and turns will come! But before we get ahead of ourselves in excitement, here’s a rundown of this year’s competing teams and drivers! The Formula 1 Class of 2025.Five Rookies & Lewis in RedOf course, all eyes will be on seven-time World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton, now dressed in Rosso Corsa and driving for the Scuderia Ferrari. This much-debated transfer is said to have ignited a new hunger in the British driver, but time will
Smartwatch or smart watch: Frederique Constant & Alpina stumble onto the stage of smart-tech - Monochrome Watches
Ever since the dawn of the smartphones and ¨Ctablets, the discussion of smartwatches' has been looming in the dark. Over the past 12 months though, we have seen the concept solidify in the form of several smart-only watches (i.e. a watch that is fully smart and non-mechanical) and a few attempts of blending technology with tradition. For the hardcore enthusiast this is something of a concern, which seems valid when digging into the latest offering: Frederique Constant & Alpina Swiss Horological Smartwatches. We've seen the Kairos, that I am personally following closely as development moves closer to production, and we've seen the Montblanc E-Strap on the Timewalker Urban Speed. The latter of the two is perhaps the most interesting, and most unlikely to disturb the feel of a mechanical watch. You can still enjoy your TimeWalker, or any model you decide to strap it on to, while being notified in the case of an emergency or important event. True, the impact and usability of both can be
Hands-On - The new Louis Moinet Memoris Spirit (Specs & Price)
The Memoris was initially introduced?in 2016 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ateliers Louis Moinet and the 200th anniversary of the Compteur de Tierces, the innovative stopwatch created by the eponymous watchmaker. Instead of revealing the chronograph movement on the caseback, the Memoris transposes the chronograph mechanism to the dial. During Watches and Wonders 2022, the model returns in a modernised version marking a fitting design direction for the independent watchmaking brand. Meet the Louis Moinet Memoris Spirit. The Louis Moinet Memoris was designed as a tribute to the creation of a historic Louis Moinet creation, the Compteurs de Tierces. According to the markings on the case, this remarkable stopwatch was designed in 1815-1816 to time the passage of the stars – it measures time intervals to the 60th of a second with start, stop and reset functions. To reach this impressive precision, its balance wheel beats at a staggering 216,000 vibrations per hour!
"Dutch Pride" embodied by the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Max Verstappen Special Edition - Monochrome Watches
Dutch citizens and their pride, all wrapped in?orange… That’s something few can understand but I have to say, I do. Indeed, I am surrounded with Dutch guys, as two of our contributors are Dutch and even our dear founder Frank is. While the Netherlands aren’t known to?be the greatest country for sports, they have one man to rely on, one man that is known to be the youngest Formula One Grand Prix winner of all time. To celebrate “Dutch Pride” and this great champion, TAG Heuer unveiled yesterday night in Amsterdam the new Max Verstappen Special Edition, a watch only available for his fans and co-citizens in the Netherlands.Heuer and later TAG Heuer have a great history with Formula 1. TAG (Techniques d’avant garde)?was indeed one of the main financers of F1 during the 1980s, providing a Porsche engine to the successful McLaren team and legend Ayrton Senna. At the same time, in 1985, TAG?purchased Swiss watchmaker Heuer – then becoming TAG Heuer.
Interview: Favre Leuba Returns With Patrik Hoffmann At The Helm
Patrik Hoffmann has been at the forefront of the watch industry for years, notably as CEO of Ulysse Nardin and Executive Vice President of Watchbox. Now, this industry veteran is leading the revival of one of the oldest Swiss watch brands with ambitious plans. Established in 1737, Favre Leuba boasts a rich heritage, particularly from the 1960s, when it created the FL 251 twin barrel movement and iconic tool watches such as the Bivouac with its aneroid altimeter and dive watches like the Deep Blue or the Bathy with its depth gauge. In 1985, following the quartz crisis, the family, which had run the brand for eight generations, had to sell it. Since then, Favre-Leuba has changed hands several times, with various attempts to revive its illustrious name. The brand now embarks on a new chapter, unveiling four new collections and 22 watches during Geneva Watch Days. Just before the event, we had the opportunity to sit down with Patrik Hoffmann in Grenchen, where the brand is headquartered, t
