Cartier's superb design - Monochrome Watches
This morning i read a post about Cartier and i just want to share it. I was blown away by the Cartier’s respect for their own design heritage. I’ve yet to see another brand that is so consistent in their design throughout several product lines… and it’s done with a lot of attention for detail. The photo shows the Cartier Tortue Mono-poussoir with matching Tortue belt buckle and the classic Three-knots cufflinks. My traveling companions - Monochrome Watches
I’m just back –?in one piece – from a three week trip to Jordan and the Egyptian Sina? desert, and here are?some photos that I made during my trip. We planned a trip to Jordan and were considering to visit Syria and/or Egypt depending on the available time and travel possibilities. From the Jordan southern coast it was a short boat trip to Nuweiba in Egypt and the reefs in that area are just great, so time for some diving. On this?trip I had two watches with me:?the IWC Pilot Watch Chronograph (ref. 3717) that I?also had on my wrist a few weeks earlier, when I?visited New York. The other one was my all time favorite vacation watch, the Citizen Automatic Diver.?I’m gonna spare you all the travel stories, since?the?pictures will tell the story for me. I have to add that the historical city of?Petra is very, very impressive and well worth a visit. Another thing you may not miss is taking a plunge into the Dead Sea. That’s a funny experience! If scuba diving is a popular recreational sport, it is a dangerous activity that needs to be properly prepared and monitored. If a diver ascends too quickly, this can lead to decompression illness that can be painful and life-threatening. As depth increases the physiological effects become greater. A reliable dive watch and a depth gauge are essential pieces of diving gear designed to monitor depth and track the duration of an underwater adventure. Both variables are needed to use decompression tables. Traditionally, divers used a dive watch and a depth gauge to calculate decompression time at given depths. Although many divers today choose to dive with a computer, some still use a mechanical depth gauge, even if only as backup. The 1960s Favre Leuba Bathy 160 was one of the first wristwatches to incorporate a mechanical depth gauge. It could register depths of up to 160 feetA handful of manufacturers have developed watches incorporating a mechanical depth gauge, starting with Favre-Leu
