Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer Bronze and Two-Tone - Hands-On
A couple of years ago, Maurice Lacroix introduced its Aikon collection with automatic movements, a watch with a clear ‘luxury sports watch’ connection, yet with an accessible price. And the recipe proved successful. Offered in multiple variations and materials, it wasn’t enough for the brand that enlarged its collection with another, more robust and sportier edition, the Aikon Venturer. Today, this adventure/diving-oriented piece receives new colours and materials, with the launch of the Aikon Venturer Two-Tone and Bronze. The luxury sports watch category is ruled by some perennial icons such as the Royal Oak and the Nautilus – two watches born in the 1970s, almost unchanged since then and that defined the genre. Fast forward to now and the luxury sports watch has never been so popular, but still out of range for most watch enthusiasts (even more considering the shortage of steel models). Some brands, however, saw an opportunity here, by offering the taste of thi
Citizen Aqualand Promaster, The Blue Collar Dive Watch from Japan
When we refer to Japan and its watch industry everyone, and rightly so, instantly think of one company: Seiko. However, there is more than that. Although Seiko has produced a large number of excellent, iconic and historical timepieces, it is unfair to forget other companies like Citizen. In this article we are going to examine one of the most iconic dive watches coming from Japan of all time. No, it is not the Tuna Marinemaster or the Seiko 6105, but the iconic Citizen Aqualand Promaster. Background - Citizen's HistoryThe Citizen Watch Company was established in 1918, as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute?and, in 1924, it produced a pocket watch which Mr. Shinpei Goto, the Mayor of Tokyo, named the CITIZEN. After this, the name stuck and was adopted by the company in 1930. From that point onward, Citizen Watch Co. have been producing extremely fine and innovative watches. For example, in 1959, the company created the first Japanese water-resistant watch, the Parawater, while in 1962
Value Proposition Martenero Kerrison Automatic (Specs & Price)
While a growing number of microbrands are producing well designed, high-quality watches that are nipping at the heels of brands like Hamilton, Tissot and Seiko, they don't have the marketing or mass production prowess of those established brands. Some of the watches themselves, however, are bonafide contenders. Martenero is a young microbrand based in New York that already has a handful of intriguing lines in its portfolio. It recently funded a sequel to one of its bestsellers on Kickstarter, the Edgemere Reserve. It follows the original Edgemere and adds three complications, a 24-hour sub-dial, date and reserve indicator (the original Edgemere was a time-only piece). One of my favourite Martenero lines is the Kerrison, which is clean and conservative, but also full of personality. They remind me of the Three Hand Automatics?from another young microbrand, Farer Universal. Both use splashes of colour to add a little fun to otherwise subdued (yet stylish) dials. Let's take a closer look

CK2915, introducing for the first time the concept of the outer tachymeter scale (no more printed on the dial), the?Omega Speedmaster properly won its spurs on?July 21, 1969, when strapped aroun
