Introducing: The A. Lange & Sohne Odysseus Honeygold
The Odysseus disembarked at A. Lange & Sohne in 2019, the Saxon brand's interpretation of a luxury steel sports watch with a personality all its own. Not only was it the first steel model for the brand, but it was also the first model with 120m water-resistance, the first model with a metallic integrated bracelet, and it was equipped with a bespoke movement. The Odysseus is back in resplendent form, clad from head to toe in Lange's proprietary Honeygold paired with an attractive chocolatey brown dial.Honeygold is a special 18k gold alloy developed for Lange in 2010 with a unique colour comparable to that of honey. Harder than other gold alloys and platinum and, therefore, much harder to shape and finish, Honeygold is reserved for Lange's most exclusive timepieces. First Look: The White Gold AP Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked 16204BC
Last week, we covered most of the new models introduced by Audemars Piguet, as part of the 2024 collection – which included a new ROO time-and-date, a handsome new alloy named Sand Gold and a striking collab watch with John Mayer. There is one watch that we’ve kept away for now, but it’s a stunner. Based on our all-time favourite, the Jumbo Extra-Thin case (the original Royal Oak…), AP is bringing a new version of the Extra-Thin Openworked in white gold (16204BC) with a sleek grey-on-grey colour scheme.?The Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked reference 16204 was introduced as part of the 50th-anniversary collection in 2022, which included the all-important 16202ST, the revised version of the classic Jumbo. Basically an openworked version of the aforementioned model, the Jumbo Openworked brought back a concept that was launched for the model’s 40th anniversary, with the reference 15203PT, a 40-piece limited edition. 40mm or 35mm...? The Two Sizes Of The Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Compared
To say that the Tissot PRX is a success would be an understatement. It is a massive hit, and for obvious reasons. Besides the overall very decent quality of the watch, combined with an accessible price, it’s mostly its style that made it so popular… The flair of the 1970s, the luxury sports watch look, the integrated design, a powerful and reliable movement and the resemblance with some of the most iconic watches (but clearly unattainable) of the category. It has it all. But the only mechanical option, up until recently, was undoubtedly on the large side. Problem (partially…) solved, as we now have the new Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 35mm. Is it perfect? Which model should you choose? We compare the 35mm and 40mm Tissot PRX to help you decide. Spoiler alert: it’ll be a hard choice! For many years, the concept of the luxury sports watch – refined, high-end watches (mostly) in stainless steel with a matching and integrated steel bracelet and thin movements, as f
Introducing the Halda Race Pilot - Monochrome Watches
What is the ultimate racing watch? What defines a racing-timepiece? Is it a necessity to be race-inspired in design or does it have to offer usability as well? It is probable that timepieces like the Chopard Mille Miglia, or TAG Heuer Monaco come to mind. Other than perhaps a chronograph, the usability during racing is limited. There is an alternative though, and it comes from Sweden, a country with a surprising rich history in racing and watchmaking: the Halda Race Pilot. We've spent some time hands-on with it, and share our experience in this full review.Sweden has been the host of an official Grand Prix between 1933 and 1967 and an FIA Formula One Championship race, at Anderstorp, between 1973 and 1978. Although no longer present on the FIA F1 calendar, it marked an important moment in F1 racing as it was home to the first and only win by a six-wheeled car, with Jody Schekter at the wheel of the Tyrrell P34. Furthermore, Sweden has been on the FIA World Rally Championship calendar e
