A. Lange & Sohne Richard Lange Minute Repeater (Price)
The minute repeater, often regarded as one of the most challenging complications to master, returns to A. Lange & Sohne. Unlike earlier models, such as the uber-complex 2013 Grand Complication or the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater that combine chiming mechanisms with other complications, the Richard Lange Minute Repeater goes solo. Shining a light on a new and improved chiming mechanism, the austere 39mm platinum case is married to a sober white enamel dial. The Richard Lange Minute Repeater is fitted with a new manual-winding movement, the 69th in-house calibre of the brand, and decorated with exquisite hand finishings. A deceptively straightforward classical dial, the striking spectacle is staged on the reverse side of the watch. The Richard Lange collection is named after the founder's son Richard who became partner of Ferdinand A. Lange's company in 1868. An outstanding watch designer, Richard Lange was also a prominent scientist and improved the elasticity of the balance spring by ad
MONOCHROME's Top 10 Watches of the SIHH 2019 - Monochrome Watches
Now that the SIHH 2019 is over, it is time to sit down and take a closer look at the?dozens of watches that were introduced.?Overall, it has been a good year in terms of novelties – probably not the best edition ever, but still, there were some pretty interesting things to see, especially in the field of complications. This also means that the “entry-level” or “affordable” categories have been slightly forgotten by some brands. After all, SIHH means Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Thus, you won’t be surprised to see that our selection of the 10 best watches of the show is focused on “high-end” models.?Note: this selection is based on a consensus among the MONOCHROME team. It reflects our preferences. If you?have a different view on what could be the best watches of the SIHH 2019, feel free to share them in the comment section at the end of this article.A. Lange & Sohne Zeitwerk DateWhy??Simply because it is much cleverer t
Hands-On - The Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Starwheel
Introduced a couple of weeks ago, the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Starwheel came as a surprise. Not that this original display of the time feels irrelevant when looking at the brand’s heritage (far from that), but it isn’t exactly what we expected the brand to revive. Despite its fascinating nature, wandering hour displays are rare, but Audemars Piguet has decided to introduce something more playful and almost kinetic inside the case of its Code 11.59. And that isn’t a bad thing, after all. Now that we’ve had a chance to experience this new Starwheel in the metal, here’s what we can tell you… (Spoiler: compared to the 1990s Star Wheel, it really is a different beast.)One of the oldest non-traditional displaysDespite the highly modern result and the fact that wandering hour complications have been used by some of the most creative indie watchmakers of the last two decades (think Urwerk, Hautlence or?Moser) or more traditional brands (such as Parmigi

Introducing The Singer Track1 Chronograph, The Sports Chronograph Reinvented by Singer Vehicle Design
Must see! The Singer Reimagined Track1 is the type of watch that makes you stop in your tracks. It's beautiful, sharp, inspired and powered by a mind-blowing chronograph movement. Today, we're taking a closer look at how Singer Reimagined is rebirthing the sports chronograph, elevating it to a whole new level - just like Singer Vehicle Design and his founder Rob Dickinson did with the iconic 911.The projectCar guys are watch guys. It may sound like a cliche, but more often than not, there is a genuine connection behind this saying. So, when we learnt that the detail-obsessed maestros at Singer Vehicle Design were getting involved in a watch project, it naturally caught our attention.Driven by the vision and obsession of one man, Rob Dickinson, Singer Vehicle Design was founded in 2009 with the stated aim of restoring, reimagining and rebirthing the most spectacular air-cooled Porsche 911. To say the least, they've made it an art form. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
