Chopard Alpine Eagle Luxury Sports Watch Collection - Hands-On, Price
The luxury sports watch is one of the most dynamic categories in the watch industry. In 1972, with the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet and Gerald Genta defined the genre: a sporty but clearly expensively-crafted steel watch with an integrated bracelet and shaped case. Most high-end brands gave their take on the category. Patek Philippe with the Nautilus, Vacheron Constantin with the 222 and the Overseas, Cartier with the Santos, IWC with the Ingenieur, Piaget with the Polo and Chopard with the St. Moritz. Back in 1980, this watch was Karl-Friedrich Scheufele's (now Chopard's co-President) first watchmaking project And its design is back with the new Chopard Alpine Eagle. Background storyAs Chopard re-enters the luxury sports watch market, the Alpine Eagle is a state-of-the-art reinterpretation of the St. Moritz. The brand made a great job in modernizing this 1980 design into a contemporary watch. Interestingly, the watch was reborn today as Karl-Friedrich Scheufele's son, Karl-Fritz, support
Weekly Watch Photo - Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph 5980/1A - Monochrome Watches
The Patek Philippe Nautilus is one of those watches that has been on my personal wish-list for a long time. A few days ago I had the chance to try the Nautilus Chronograph ref.5980/1A on my wrist and now I know it… it made it to the top of my wish-list instantly.?I know, I know… on Monochrome there has also been moaning about the yearly price increases and the price of this specific stainless steel chronograph, which is close to € 40.000 Euro (including taxes). I still think the price is too high, however on the other hand I really want this watch. After trying it on my wrist at Leon Martens,?one of the few Patek Philippe dealers in the Netherlands, I was convinced the Nautilus Chronograph is THE perfect all-round watch. Dressy, casual, sporty and incredibly comfortable. Ad - Scroll to continue with article When I have time for it I read several foru
Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope Bronze Gold 43mm - Hands-On, Price
A couple of weeks ago, we presented Omega’s?latest chronograph creation, a surprising take on the most famous of the brand’s timepieces, a complex, visually different edition of the Speedmaster named Chronoscope. While we extensively covered the reasons behind the name and all the specifications surrounding the six stainless steel editions in this in-depth article, I wanted to come back on the most characterful and probably (at least to me) attractive of the versions. One that isn’t made of stainless steel and one that has a far less sporty attire. Let’s take a closer look at the Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope Bronze Gold.?Some of the inspirations behind the new Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope collectionChronoscope is a name that resonates in Omega’s history. It was already in use in 1885, and far more recently, it was attached to the De Ville Chronograph watches. Behind this name is a tribute to the brand’s past, to watches from the 1930s and 1940s equ
TAG Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5 Green Dial - Hands-On, Specs & Price
TAG Heuer is hugely popular for its automotive heritage and its racing chronographs. But the brand also has rich nautical and water-sport credentials, in particular with the Aquaracer dive watch collection. Launched in 2004/2005 as a direct descendant of the 2000 series, the Aquaracer line is now one of the pillars of the TAG Heuer portfolio. It comprises a variety of relatively accessible models. TAG Heuer has made a new addition to the collection with an emerald green Aquaracer Calibre 5.As you would have guessed, the most distinctive feature of this new take on the classic Aquaracer is its eye-catching vivid green dial. If colours are a matter of personal taste, it certainly brings a fresh, modern touch to the model - something quite different from the usual black of deep-blue dial. The dial's horizontal striped pattern is paired with luminescent markers and hands providing adequate contrast. The date indication at 3 o’clock is magnified by a cyclops lens. Ad - Scro

Panerai digs deep into its past and finds an unusual source of inspiration for its new Radiomir 1940 models in the form of an Art Deco pendulum clock. Housed in 47mm Radiomir cases, the dials of these newcomers are a far cry from standard Panerai fare. Dressier and playing the retro card to perfection, the Radiomir 1940 Art Deco Dial PAM00790 and PAM00791 are out to seduce landlubbers. Presented with ivory and black dials and no trace of Panerai's hallmark luminescence, both Special Editions feature elegant Art Deco hour numerals, a railway minute track and, for the first time in Panerai's history, spear-shaped hour and minute hands. So, many of you might be asking, how does a pendulum clock fit in with Panerai's history of rugged military watches and instruments designed for Italian Navy frogmen on secret underwater missions during WWII? A fortress built on two solid pillars ¨CLuminor and Radiomir – Panerai has kept its brand identity rock solid rarely straying from the path of ov
