Luxury Watches |
The limited-edition watch by Bell & Ross is gaining popularity quite fast. The watch has a very modern look and feel to it with the jet black dial and strap. The bezel is also black but outlines a yellow line around the dial. This gives off such a cool aura that fun-loving watch collectors cannot resist it. The date window has a red ring around it, which makes the display look even cooler.

Richemont "Destroys" More than EUR 450m of Unsold Watches in Two Years - Monochrome Watches
It is not ‘breaking news’ to say that the watch industry faced hard times in 2015 and 2016. Business had been tough due to decreasing sales. The Richemont Group – the luxury powerhouse that owns Cartier, IWC, and Montblanc among others – had also been affected by this situation,?as reported by MONOCHROME here. Part of Richemont’s plan to improve the situation was a massive buyback strategy designed to reduce stock at retailers and enable them to invest in new collections. What was not known, until recently, was the total value of watches bought back by the group… According to The Guardian, we’re talking about approximately half a billion Euro/Dollar.?The situation is simple. In 2015, 2016, and 2017, sales of watches declined, including watch brands that are part of the Richemont Group (A. Lange & Sohne, Baume et Mercier, Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Panerai, Piaget, Roger Dubuis and Vacheron Constantin, among others). This led
Introducing The Sporty-Chic Longines Conquest 2023 Collection
Longines has a long and extensive history in watchmaking and often showcases its ability to capture the spirit of bygone collections. A few examples are the very popular and widespread Spirit line, but also iconic models such as the Legend Diver. On the other, more modern end of the spectrum sit collections such as the Conquest. And while the Conquest might be best known for its aquatic sibling, the HydroConquest, the sharply cut all-rounder is not to be overlooked. Longines seems to want us to take notice of this and elevates the Conquest collection with redesigned time-and-date models and adds in a sleek-looking chronograph as well. The result? A total of eight sporty-chic and very good all-rounders to get you through your days.Time-and-dateFirst up is the classic time-and-date watch, something that we probably all have in our collection. The case has been redesigned into a more classical yet modern style, with a 41mm diameter, a height of 10.90mm, a sloped steel bezel and more elega

The Art of Openworked Movements - A Case Study with Vaucher
Recently we brought you a detailed look at Vaucher, one of the most prominent high-grade mechanical makers for third parties in the watch industry (read our article here).?We went back to the Val-de-Travers to take a look at how the movement manufacturer produces openworked movements, including their own calibre 5401.The creation of openworked or skeleton watches, the art of playing with transparency aims at revealing the quintessence of the movement, allowing its wearer to admire its intricacies. When crafting an openworked/skeleton movement, the plate, bridges and other components such as the barrel cover are hollowed out and then carved to the bare essentials to reveal the inner workings that make it tick. It then requires complementary skills, those of master craftsmen to sublimate the movement with time-consuming finishing and decoration operations. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Unique Ulysse Nardin Marine Diver to be auctioned for KiKa - Kids without Cancer Foundation - Monochrome Watches
KiKa is a Dutch foundation that wants to increase the cure rate of kids with cancer to 95% in 2025. To reach that massively important goal, they need money for the necessary research. The good news is that the specialists involved are convinced that new treatments can be developed. Ulysse Nardin makes a unique Marine Diver available for an auction to be held during the KiKa gala event on 26 March. May I invite you to (virtually)?raise your paddle and bid!It was on the second day of this year, that I received an email from Frits Hirschstein, founder of KiKa, asking if I could give him a call. So I did, and?Mr. Hirschstein?told me about his?foundation, KiKa’s goal, and the annual gala event with an auction that helps to reach that goal. He was looking for a watch brand to participate in the auction, and since this year’s auction has a nautical theme, the link to Ulysse Nardin was quickly made. Long story short,?Ulysse Nardin generously agreed to sponsor KiKa’s auction w
