A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange"
Today, A. Lange & Sohne releases a trilogy of limited edition watches to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the foundation of the Saxon brand by F. A. Lange in 1815. The Rattrapante Honeygold is perhaps the most special watch in the trilogy because it is ‘new’. Admittedly, we've seen the rattrapante combined with a perpetual calendar in the past, but this is the first time Lange lets the rattrapante occupy centre stage, highlighting a complication that incarnates the very essence of a high-end chronograph. Like the other two pieces released in this commemorative “Homage to F. A. Lange” trilogy – 1815 Thin and 1815 Tourbograph Perpetual – the Rattrapante is housed in a Honeygold case, has special finishes on the movement and is a member of the 1815 watch family. Although this anniversary model is clearly aimed at collectors, it might, it just might be a harbinger of a regular production model in the future (fingers crossed).?Lange's chronographsSi
A one-of-two Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe breaks records
In the world of classic cars, there's expensive and then there's Ferrari-expensive. Or at least, there was Ferrari-expensive because as of now it seems that a 1956 Mercedes-Benz has set the new all-time record for the most expensive car in the world. Where in the what, who and how has this happened? Well, Mercedes-Benz themselves have apparently sold one of only two 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupes ever made, both still in existence and owned by the company itself until now, for a monumental 135 MILLION euros. Take that, Ferrari! If you go through the list of most expensive cars ever sold, directly from one owner to the next or through auctions, multiple records have been set in the past 8 or 9 years. As prices from classic cars have skyrocketed, there's one brand that pretty much dominates, and that's of course none other than Ferrari. Out of the 11 most expensive cars listed by Hagerty, only 4 are not by the fabled Italian carmaker, including the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe we’
Industry Patek Takes Stake in Gem-Setting Firm Salanitro SA
Today,?Salanitro SA?has just announced that Patek Philippe has acquired a stake in its capital. The amount of the investment and the size of the stake were not disclosed. This entry into the capital of the gem-setting company materializes the coming together of two independent Geneva-based family businesses. If Patek Philippe requires little introduction, Salanitro SA is an institution in the Swiss watch industry, being the most prominent player in the jewellery and gem-setting activities for Swiss Haute Horlogerie. Founded in 1990, Salanitro SA counts no fewer than 230 employees. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Pierre Salanitro, founder and owner of Salanitro SAThe operation is obviously an opportunity to strengthen the ties between the two companies. For Salanitro SA, it is also a way to secure the company's future with the backup of Patek Philippe, all t
Introducing: The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy White Star
Unquestionably one of the best-selling models at Oris, the Divers Sixty-Five resurfaced after a period of dormancy in 2015 with its vintage appeal and ancestor's traits practically intact. A year later, Oris revisited its Divers Sixty-Five in a limited edition with a larger 42mm diameter and a bronze case dedicated to Carl Brashear with a dial that would become the blueprint for the collection going forward. Bronze cases have appeared at key junctions in Oris' timeline, including the bronze cases of the compact 38mm Cotton Candy models with eye-catching summery pastel dials. Today, Oris releases a full-bronze edition of its Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy with a bright white dial announcing the advent of winter and fun on the slopes.Whenever Oris issues a bronze model, fans of the brand know that a regular production model is probably lurking in the pipeline. Like the first 2016 Oris Carl Brashear time-and-date signalling the debut of the new face of the collection, the 43mm bronze Carl
First Look: The new Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 40mm in Rose Gold PVD
60 different references… This is how wide Tissot’s best-selling collection, the sporty-elegant integrated PRX watch, has become in about 4 years. Ranging from compact and affordable quartz models to more expensive watches with gold fluted bezels and chronograph movement, and basically everything you can imagine in between (even a forged carbon edition), you’d think the PRX collection is soon to come full circle. Well, the brand is here to prove you wrong as it’s just released a new, luxurious-looking, but accessibly-priced version of the classic PRX Powermatic 80 40mm, now coated with rose gold PVD, paired with a waffle-style blue dial. Quite a cool combo, in all fairness.?At this point in the lifecycle of the Tissot PRX, I believe that it isn’t necessary to remind you what we’re talking about… The PRX is the brand’s take on the integrated sports watch category, inspired by a 1978 model, modernized to current tastes and accessible enough
