Hands-On - A. Lange & Sohne Little Lange 1 with Colorful Guilloche Dial (SIHH 2018, Specs & Price)
As journalists crowded around the viewing table to admire the technical fireworks of A. Lange & Sohne's Triple Split at the SIHH 2018, I made my way to a less congested table and was treated to a hands-on session with the new members of the Little Lange 1 family. Like its Moon Phase sibling introduced last year, the new Little Lange 1 trilogy flaunts an incredible guilloche dial (without a moon phase complication) and all the hallmark traits of its Lange 1 heritage. But what nobody expected was the surprising injection of colour.Colourful buzzAs a brand associated with contemporary classics and tasteful German sobriety, colour is used sparingly at the best of times at A. Lange & Sohne. Presented in three variations – pink gold with a brown dial and two white gold variations with grey and purple dials – the Little Lange 1 model with the purple dial and matching purple alligator strap became the talking piece of the day. Certina DS1 Big Date 60th Anniversary - Introducing (Specs & Price)
The DS Concept put Certina on the map and was a big step forward in making Swiss watches more reliable and water-resistant while maintaining affordable prices. Now that the system is celebrating its 60th birthday, a commemorative watch is launched. Meet the new Certina DS1 Big Date 60th Anniversary and its combination of style, good mechanics and affordability.BackgroundNowadays, a shock and water-resistant watch doesn't really sound like anything exceptional. Water-resistance was an e

The Airain Type 20 Re-Edition (Specs & Price)
If the concept of pilot’s chronograph is well-established today, it owes its origins to a series of legendary watches. Think about the WWII Flieger Chronographs for the Luftwaffe, the 1953 Breitling Co-Pilot Avi 765 and, of course, the Type 20 Chronograph of the French Aeronavale. The latter has gained true cult status among military and pilot watch enthusiasts and has come to define an entire generation of aviation instrument watches. Many attempts have been made to resurrect the concept, among which are the famous watches by Breguet. Recently, we announced the comeback of one of the suppliers of Type 20, a brand named Airain. Today is the big day, as the brand presents its first model, which is a really cool re-edition of the original Airain Type 20.?The Type 20 WatchesThe original concept of pilot chronographs owes a lot to German Flieger watches. Produced during WWII by Hanhart or Tutima, these watches were commissioned by the Luftwaffe. On the contrary to the B-Uhr (short fo
