Revisiting The Most Classic Nomos, The Tangente 35mm Hand-Wound
Some watches are so emblematic that they alone define a brand: the Omega Speedmaster, the AP Royal Oak, or the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. When I think about Nomos, my mind can’t skip it; it always returns to the Tangente. A classic among the classics, it was actually one of four watches launched at the time of the brand’s inception. And while the other three are surely having their own fanbase, none can compete with the aura of the Tangente. I’ve easily seen and handled a dozen of different Tangente watches, but, for an inexplicable reason, I never really tested the real one, the original; the 35mm hand-wound Nomos Tangente, known as reference 101 or 139 (the latter being shown here).?Let’s go back in time a bit… Precisely, in 1990. Or maybe even a couple of months before that. On 9 November 1989, something of immense importance happened in Germany, the Fall of the Berlin Wall. For about 40 years, Germany was divided between Western Germany, influenced by Oc
2020 New Dials for Omega De Ville Prestige Co-Axial
Launched in 1994, the Omega De Ville Prestige is certainly not the brand’s most striking or most coveted timepiece, overshadowed by the icons that are the Speedmaster and Seamaster. Nevertheless, this classic, elegant watch makes for a nice option if you’re in the market for an all-rounder with an efficient movement and Omega’s usual indisputable quality (and at a decent price too). For 2020, the brand adds new dial and colour combinations to the De Ville Prestige.Well-proportioned, with its 39.5mm case, the De Ville Prestige is a classic, timeless and discreet watch that doesn’t need to make a statement. It has the right dosage of elegance to make it to the wrist of discerning enthusiasts with numerous options, whether colours, dial layouts or materials offered. This year, the collection is enlarged with all-time classic colours and two-tone combinations, for an extra touch of luxury. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Interview - Davide Cerrato of Montblanc On The Brand and What's Coming Next
We're in Switzerland quite often – according to my wife, who keeps track, I've spent a quarter of last year in the land of watchmaking. Whether for the videos that we make, or events organised by watch brands, or manufacture visits, or the GPHG award night, it always means you're meeting a lot of people from the watch industry and the opportunity of running into friends. Recently I met with my good friend Davide Cerrato, Managing Director Of Montblanc Watch Division, and we talked about how things are at Montblanc, what's going to happen at Goodwood and more.Davide Cerrato, Managing Director Of Montblanc Watch DivisionHere's a recap of the talk we had, just outside the EPHJ, seated on a bench in the sun. The weather was great, birds were singing and it was nice to run into Davide and have the opportunity to get an update of how things have been going since we last saw one another in January at the SIHH (in this video interview).Frank Geelen (FG): In January, Montblanc presented i
Montblanc Star Roman Carpe Diem Special Editions (specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
The Montblanc Star collection is certainly not widely coveted, at least less than the recent creations, like the Heritage Chronometrie collection or the high-end Villeret creations. In fact, this collection is older than its siblings but it’s not void of interest. It’s even a interesting choice for those looking for a?traditional and classical design, with an elegance suitable for an everyday use. In order to bring this collection back under the spotlights,?Montblanc presents three new?models in the Montblanc Star Collection ¡ª the Montblanc Star Roman Quantieme Complet Carpe Diem Special Edition, the Montblanc Star Roman Chronograph UTC Automatic Carpe Diem Special Edition and the Montblanc Star Roman Carpe Diem Small Second Special Edition. The Montblanc Star Roman Collection is defined by its classical design and simple but reliable automatic movements. The refined and understated look is expressed by?slim roundish polished stainless steel case with straight horns and dist
Introducing the new MONOCHROME Hand-Made Rally Straps - Monochrome Watches
End of last year we introduced the new Monochrome Web-Shop and our hand-made premium leather watch rolls. We’re very proud that our customers were very impressed by the impeccable quality. Since we write about the most beautiful and exclusive timepieces of our planet, we feel that our products should be on par with that. So we searched long, to find a very good strapmaker, who makes the very best straps for your vintage timepieces.Several years ago I already asked myself if changing straps is just a hobby for Paneristi? I do realize that it probably started with Panerai watches, however personally I love to switch straps on my other watches as well. The straps are hand-made in Cyprus, and are crafted of the finest leathers. These ‘rally’ straps are punctured with holes, in a typical 1960’s/1970’s racing style and look absolutely great on your vintage Speedmaster, Camaro, Carrera, Autavia, Monaco, Top Timer, or any other vintage/modern chronograph.
