Pre SIHH 2015: Three new models of the A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia collection - Monochrome Watches
Today we’re introducing three new A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia models that will be officially launched during the upcoming SIHH in January 2015. Technically all three watches will remain the same, however in terms of aesthetics and/or size the Saxonia, the Saxonia Automatic and the Saxonia Dual Time will be updated. Small, but interesting and quite notable changes. The Saxonia line represents the “entry” level of the high-end watch manufacture from Saxony, Germany. Two of the models, the Saxonia and the Saxonia Dual Time, will be reduced in size. Yes, you read that correct! Every time that a watch brand decides to reduce size instead of increasing, we here at Monochrome applaud that kind of bravery. That’s just one of the reasons why we’re so taken by the 38.5 mm measuring Lange 1 that has remained unchanged in size for the last 20 years, and has not been subject to the big, bigger, biggest hype that went on in the watch industry in that past decade.A. Three AP Royal Oaks In 41mm White Gold Cases With Smoked Light Blue Dials - Monochrome Watches
Although the Royal Oak was duly feted last year when it turned fifty, this year kicks off with a host of releases of Gerald Genta's iconic luxury sports watch. This special edition trilogy – composed of Selfwinding, Selfwinding Chronograph and Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon models – shares 41mm white gold cases, smoked light blue Grand Tapisserie dials and latest-generation in-house automatic movements. Like the Royal Oak Chronograph?with baguette-cut sapphires, these special editions by?Audemars Piguet will be sold initially in Japan from March 2023 and then offered globally in July 2023.The 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak also involved a subtle facelift for 34, 37, 38 and 41mm Selfwinding and Selfwinding Chronograph models. The iconic tonneau-shaped case, octagonal bezel with eight hexagonal screws, integrated bracelet and Tapisserie pattern on the dial were all respected. What it did involve, however, was a more sophisticated finishing on the case with enlarged polished
Hands-On Patek Philippe Calatrava Weekly Calendar 5212A (Specs & Price)
Like a good thriller, the Calatrava Weekly Calendar 5212A is packed with subtle clues that offer us a glimpse into the strategies of its maker. More complex than the elite and minimalist line-up of Calatrava watches, the Weekly Calendar also departs from its family heritage of precious metal cases and flaunts a stainless steel case. Currently the only Calatrava watch in steel, the 5212A gets some of its design elements from a 1955 ancestor, it comes with a sector dial, a winning touch of “handwritten” font on the dial, and a new movement. Although it is the first model to offer this unusual combination of calendar functions, the Weekly Calendar transmits the reassuring feeling that it has always been a member of the Patek dynasty.Useful complicationsPatek's expertise in calendar watches – and combinations of sophisticated calendars with other complications – is legendary. Taking a different tack from the classic aperture/sub-dial layout of its classic calendar w
Longines Legend Diver with date - Monochrome Watches
Re-issues seem to be popular the last few years. Especially the revival of the super compressor dive watches is quite remarkable. In my ‘chronicle‘ on Worldtempus.com i write about the popularity of the re-issues the last few years. Although TAG Heuer already started with re-issues in the late nineties, most other brands are catching up the last few years. Among others Omega, Jaeger LeCoultre and IWC presented some lovely re-issues. In my opinion Longines came with the most striking of them all…. the Legend Diver.Longines Legend DiverSuper compressors are dive watches pur sang. Together with other dive watches with external dive bezel, like the Submariner and Sea-Dweller and the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, they are the most important representatives of vintage dive watches. Since the very first time i saw a vintage super compressor, quite some years ago already, i liked them. So you can imagine i was very exited when Longines presented the Legend Diver at Baselworld 20
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Full-Steel 2022 - Video Review, Price
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Collection was introduced in 1992 and has since been the classic, slightly vintage branch of the brand. The collection combines an impressive technical rigour with a stylistic approach inspired by classic round timepieces made by JLC in the 1950s. And of course, there’s the fact that these watches undergo the brand’s 1000 Hours Control certification. The Master Control was refreshed in 2020?with a more streamlined and more contemporary design, yet with the same timeless attire as before. Available in several versions?with different calibres, it’s time for this somewhat formal collection to become more versatile, as the Master Control Calendar and the Master Control Chronograph Calendar now come with interchangeable stainless steel bracelets (and leather straps). The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control is the best definition of a classic luxury watch at Jaeger-LeCoultre. Restrained, elegant, discreet and timeless, it combines the brand
