Video - Secrets Behind Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Grande Sonnerie
There can be no doubt that Le Brassus-based watchmaker Audemars Piguet was and still is one of the best representatives of the art of Haute Horlogerie. Certainly, the design and style of its watches have evolved over the years to become more contemporary, but one thing that can’t be denied is the brand’s ability to manufacture some of the finest complication movements. Keep in mind that Audemars Piguet is one of the rare watchmakers capable of crafting a Grande Complication wristwatch. The latest creation of the brand, which belongs to the category of traditional, handcrafted movements, is dedicated to the music of time. Combining two distinctive features, that of the Supersonnerie construction and the Grande Sonnerie mechanism (a speciality of Audemars Piguet), the brand has recently released the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie. Today, in one of our in-depth videos (which you can see above), we take you inside the manufacture to see how
Vintage Corner - A Case Study on ¡®Original Condition for Vintage Watches, with Omega Seamaster 300
When it was originally launched back in the early 1960s, the Omega Seamaster 300 was, together with the Submariner, a mass-produced specialist dive watch for the burgeoning recreational diver market. There was also Blancpain and a few others like Doxa, Eterna, Favre Leuba, but none of them was on the same production scale. Today's Vintage Corner' is not meant to be a history of the dive watch but more of an introduction to what you should look for in terms of the condition of these watches today. The idea is to understand what the term in original condition' means regarding these types of vintage tool watches. Particularly dive watches, like the Seamaster 300, which tend to have endured quite some action over their lifetimes. The first generation Seamaster 300, with straight lugs, thin black bezel insert and broad arrow' hands, was replaced in 1963/1964 by the now well-known Seamaster 300 ST 165.024. It featured a case very similar to the Omega Speedmaster of the era. Similar proporti
Hands-On Seiko Prospex SRPA21 PADI Turtle - A nice, colorful, affordable dive watch for summer (live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
Imagine you are looking for a new watch, a watch that you could easily wear during summer, weekends, holidays, to the pool, for all kind of leisure activities, with a solid construction, a robust water resistance, a rather cool look, slightly vintage-inspired, from a reputable manufacture, with in-house movement and automatic (of course). What could be the options? A Tudor Black Bay? A Hulk Submariner? A Seamaster 300? If you don’t have (or don’t want to spend) €3k to €7k, the best option is coming from the other watchmaking heaven, Japan. And for an almost ridiculous 429 Euros, you can have all of that, in the name of the?Seiko Prospex SRPA21 PADI Turtle. And here is why it’s such a cool and?nice dive watch for summer (and more). The?Seiko Prospex SRPA21 PADI Turtle is cool because it’s a vintage reissue…That’s something our own “professor“, Mister Ilias Giannopoulos, already explained when introducing and first testing the new Seiko SRP
Hands-On - Patek Philippe 5320G-011 Perpetual Calendar Salmon (Price)
Some watches are more special than others… The fact that we’re talking about a perpetual calendar manufactured by Patek Philippe is already a first clue. The fact that it’s a salmon dial watch with a white metal case is only adding to this specialness… Right, but what truly makes the 5320G Perpetual Calendar special, whether this new salmon version or the recently discontinued cream-coloured version here, is the design, its inspiration and its overall vintage elegance. This watch was surprising when first launched in 2017, and the new rose gold-coloured opaline dial brings an even more desirable dimension to this watch. And here is it live.?A watch inspired by multiple historic modelsAs we’ve explained recently in our articles about the Annual Calendar Travel Time 5326G and the Green Lacquered 5270P, Patek has changed. It has evolved mostly on the design side, with watches that are in line with the expectations of a new, younger clientele who desire edgier
The Watchmakers who say MIH - Monochrome Watches
The MIH Watch was released in september 2005 and has become a famous watch among watch enthusiasts in those past 3.5 years. With clean looks that do not immediately give away the complexity of the watch, it flies nicely under the radar.?The concept was developed by Ludwig Oechslin who is well known for creating remarkable watches like the Freak?for Ulysse Nardin. Paul Gerber was responsable for the technical development of the MIH, but mr. Gerber also has a reputation for creating the world’s most complicated wristwatch. Christian Gafner, who was responsible for the design, proposed an easily readable watch with absolutely no inscription on the front, but only a small “MIH” at the 9 o’clock position. As you can see the result is a watch with a very clean dial, which is easy to read the time. But don’t be fooled, despite the clean and simple design, the MIH Watch has a single button chronograph and an annual calendar. Ad - Scroll to continue with
