Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph Smoked Dial / Platinum 26332PT (SIHH 2018)
Now that the big stress linked to the opening of SIHH 2018 is gone, it is time for us to look at some of the?less important novelties. Alongside the RD#2 (the thinnest automatic?QP ever), Audemars has many other watches to show in the 2018 collection, including this one, a new version of the?Royal Oak Chronograph with a smoked slate grey dial. Nothing revolutionary here, just a cool looking watch – but not for every pocket though. Not all the watches presented in the SIHH 2018 collections are to be seen as highlights. In fact, it’s quite the opposite, as most of the new models are just variations of existing timepieces. This doesn’t prevent us from being pleased by some of them, however. This is exactly what happened with this new?Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph ref. 26332PT. It is just cool… Already known for sure, but still cool. Ad - Scroll to continue with article

Hands-On IWC Big Pilot's Watch Monopusher Le Petit Prince IW515202
Launched in 2002 and inspired by a 1940s B-Uhr watch, IWC’s Big Pilot’s Watch is a champion of the aviator’s watch. In a clear display of the flight path set for its Big Pilot’s family, in 2013, IWC Schaffhausen sealed its relationship with the delightful protagonist of Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s “Le Petit Prince” with a spectacular Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar. Surprisingly, and despite the presence of even more complicated models like the Big Pilot’s Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon and even a Constant-Force Tourbillon, there was a fundamental complication missing from the collection: a chronograph. Today, IWC unveils the first chronograph in the Big Pilot’s collection with the thematic colour and features we associate with “Le Petit Prince” models. To respect the spirit of the Big Pilot, IWC has chosen a monopusher chronograph with a push-button integrated into the distinctive conical crown. A limited editi
Henry Graves Patek Philippe Supercomplication set a new record of CHF 20,600,000 at Sotheby's auction - Monochrome-Watches
This record was predictable. The price too. But even if most of us were expecting a mind-blowing price, the amount of money offered yesterday for the Henry Graves Patek Philippe?Supercomplication remains something close to?indecency, as Sotheby’s hammered the most expensive watch to date for CHF 20,600,000 (before buyer’s premium). Now that we know the price, the big question is ‘Who’. Some clues to come.Let’s begin with the most important: figures. We told you, the?Henry Graves Patek Philippe Supercomplication just beat the previous record of?the most expensive watch ever sold. It was previously held by… that same pocket watch. It had already been auctioned in 1999, also by Sotheby’s, for USD 11,000,000. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Yesterday, 11 November 2014, it reached CHF 20,600,000 before buyer’s prem
Ulysse Nardin Perpetual Calendar GMT Manufacture Boutique Edition - Monochrome Watches
To many collectors, the Perpetual Calendar / Quantieme Perpetuel is the complete timepiece; yes of course there are a few more complex mechanisms, but in terms of the practical, day-to-day functionality of a time and date watch, the perpetual calendar covers all bases. In simplistic terms, it is a watch which, if kept wound, will never need manual intervention and will record time, day, date, month and the year. Ulysse Nardin comes with a new version of its?Perpetual Calendar GMT Manufacture, a platinum watch with blue dial made for its boutiques only.So what? Well, considering the varying number of days in the months, it's a pretty sophisticated feat of micro-engineering to translate that challenge into a mechanical solution so that the date is always corrected without changing it yourself. Then consider that oddity which is the leap year, when once in four years the month of February gets an extra day to balance out the books, so to speak. So we're talking about a function which only
