Recap - the best watches introduced by TUDOR in 2021
As we’re getting closer and closer to the year’s end, and probably looking to put 2021 behind us quickly for several no-need-to-mention reasons, we’re also looking back on what has been a very interesting year in watchmaking. Patek Philippe 5270P Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Platinum Salmon Dial (Specs & Price)
The perpetual calendar chronograph is a combination of complications that belongs' to Patek Philippe. The 5270 continues a long tradition initiated in 1941. It was introduced in 2011 with an in-house movement as the successor of the 5970, itself an evolution of the 3970 (read our article about the different generations of the 5270 here). It is now available for the first time in the noblest of all metals, platinum. And it comes with a truly stunning salmon dial that – as often with salmon dials – is elegant, unostentatious but with that very special twist. The reference 5270P is powered by the handwound calibre CH 29-535 PS Q. It combines a perpetual calendar with the column-wheel chronograph calibre launched in 2009. The chronograph mechanism is connected to the timekeeping gear train by a horizontal clutch and features jumping minutes for enhanced legibility. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it can store in between 55 to 65 hours of power reserve. The Gyromax balan
Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Pequenos Segundos // Review, Price
Cuba isn't the first place that comes to mind when you think about watchmaking. Cuervo y Sobrinos is arguably the only luxury watch brand with true Latin roots, born in Havana's San Rafael Avenue. Now headquartered in Le Noirmont, Switzerland, the brand combines contemporary Swiss craftsmanship with design inspiration from Havana's golden years. The Historiador Peque?os Segundos was inspired by a vintage company piece from 1946, but also carries a modern vibe with both classic and edgy design elements. Let's look at a deceptively conservative piece that celebrates the Latin spirit. ?BACKGROUNDFounded in 1882, Cuervo y Sobrinos quickly became known for both fine jewellery and watches. The name is derived from Armando R¨ªo Cuervo, who in 1900 worked with his family to expand his uncle's company – Cuervo y Sobrinos translates to Cuervo and Nephews. In 1920, the brand expanded to Europe, networking in Pforzheim, Germany and on Rue Mezlay in Paris. A production site would be set up a d
Introducing the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve Collection Excellence Platine - Monochrome Watches
Shortly before the Watches & Wonders fair in Hong Kong, Vacheron Constantin adds a new version of the beautiful calibre 2475 to the Collection Excellence Platine. Originally introduced into the collection in the legendary Jubilee 1755, in 2005, and since 2008 available in the Quai de l’Ile collection, it now returns in a lovely classically styled execution: the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve Collection Excellence Platine. Since its creation in 2006 Vacheron Constantin’s Collection Excellence Platine pays homage to the purity of the material platinum. Platinum is 95% pure, compare that to 18-carat gold that is just 75% pure gold. The additional 25% determines the colour of gold (pink, rose, red, yellow or white.) Platinum usually is mixed with 5% palladium or copper. Watches in the Collection Excellence Platine are always individually numbered and never exceeding 150 pieces per model. This Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power reserve features
