First Look: New Pastel Colours for the Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm
Ben Kuffer hit the ground running with the launch of his start-up watch brand Norqain in 2018. Thanks to a good network of family and friends associated with the watch industry, Ben counted on the support of his father, Marc Kuffer, who owned and managed a prominent Swiss private label manufacturer, Ted Schneider, a member of the family that owned Breitling for decades and other heavyweights like Jean-Claude Biver. With just three families of outdoor adventure-style watches, Norqain has managed to secure a solid footing in the market with its well-designed, more contemporary and fashionable models. Just ahead of Watches & Wonders 2024 and warmer weather, Norqain releases a trilogy of 40mm Freedom 60 chronographs with attractive pastel dials. The Freedom 60 Chrono sub-collection is Norqain’s slightly retro, 1960s-inspired chronograph. It was first released in 2020 with a 43mm case and two years later in a more compact 40mm diameter. The trilogy released today comes in compact 4
Bulgari Octo Tourbillon Sapphire - Baselworld 2017 (Hands-On with Price)
In early 2017, Bulgari unveiled a new addition to its emblematic Octo collection. True to the designs codes of the collection, (in particular a circle framed by an octagon), the lines of Roma have been smoothed featuring only 58 facets instead of the traditional 110 of the regular models. The Roma captures the traditional chic of the collection with urban, universal appeal. Inspired by a bold and nonconformist vision of watchmaking, the Roma is now enhanced with a luminescent tourbillon movement, revealing its inner workings in complete transparency. Meet the Bulgari Octo Tourbillon Sapphire. With the Octo Tourbillon sapphire, Bulgari has broken away from the traditional codes to create a non-conformist, futuristic style (somehow reminiscent of some of the brand's daring Magsonic designs). The contrast of colors and materials, depth and 3D architecture of the movement are indeed striking. Shadow and light effects transform our perception. Its skeletonized movement is regulated by a tour
Forza Ferrari, Forza Hublot - Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Speciale Ceramic (live photos, specs and price) - Monochrome-Watches
While Hublot celebrates 10 years of the iconic Big Bang line with a series of 10 unique Haute Joaillerie Big Bang Unico creations priced at 1 million USD each, they are also releasing a new Big Bang Ferrari Speciale model which is definitely more suited for everyday wear. Available in two editions, black ceramic with red, white and blue details, or grey ceramic with grey and white details, it pays tribute to one of the very best of the Cavalino Rampante's creations: the Ferrari 458 Speciale. The Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Speciale Ceramic, in either of the two color options is still a very outspoken watch, not in the least bit due to its size. It is not something for gents who prefer to fly under the radar. When compared to the car it is linked to, this shouldn't be a problem since both are quite ostentatious creations?in their own right. Weekly Watch Photo - Vacheron Constantin Wristshots from the Hour Lounge - Monochrome Watches
Another week, another Weekly Watch Photo here at Monochrome. A while ago Alex Ghotbi, community manager of Vacheron Constantin’s “in-house” forum, started the Friday “what’s on your wrist” post by showing the Overseas Chronograph with blue dial (click here for our hands-on report) on his wrist. I liked that photo a lot and yesterday I browsed through the Hour Lounge to search for more beautiful wrist shots of the Overseas Chrono and ended up with some entirely different photos. While I was actually searching for photos of the sporty and casual Overseas, I saw a photo of the Historique American 1921 and I like this model so much. The search went on, but I noticed that my focus was changed and thus I selected other photos, not of the sports watch that the Overseas is, but photos of stylish, refined and even elegant dress watches. No wonder, actually, because that’s exactly what we can expect from Vacheron Constantin. Together with Patek Philippe a
Louis Moinet Memoris Superlight (Live Pics & Price)
Louis Moinet holds a special place in the history of the chronograph with the 1816 Compteur de Tierce. Designed to time the passage of stars, this innovative timepiece could measure events to the 60th of a second with start, stop and reset functions. In 2016, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of this creation, Les Ateliers Louis Moinet presented the Memoris, an original monopusher chronograph with its mechanism fully exposed through its dial. The latest versions of the model are colourful limited editions in lightweight titanium. The Louis Moinet Memoris is an original take on the chronograph, displaying the chronograph mechanism on the dial side, in particular its driving command, with the column wheel at 12 o'clock and the horizontal clutch next to the counter at 9 o'clock. To offer an unimpeded view of this mechanism, the registers are fashioned out of transparent sapphire. The hour and minute indications are off-centred at 6 o'clock. The watch is now presented in three new colourfu
