Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2016 Race Edition Chronographs (specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
In the world of classic cars, one of the most prestigious and spectacular events to admire is the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique. Looking at some of the best past Formula 1 or Le Mans drivers pushing hard in the middle of the narrow streets of Monaco, driving Pre-War or 1960s powerful race cars is certainly an experience.?Chopard has been sponsor and official timekeeper of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique?since 2002. You won't be surprised to learn that the brand dedicates a collection to this event, and this year, two new limited edition watches have been presented - of course, to respect the theme, some chronographs. Here are the?Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2016 Race Edition Chronographs.A key highlight in the classic racing calendar, the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is an authentic speed trial run on the Principality's legendary circuit. Organized by the Automobile Club de Monaco, this biennial rendezvous for passionate devotees of old-timer mechanics turns the sp
Introducing: Qin Gan Pastorale II
I’ve been saying it for years now; watchmaking is a universal trade. Gone are the days when it was for the Swiss only, or even Europe for that matter. These days, with virtually no boundaries thanks to the online world, there’s surprising and exciting watchmaking to be found all over the globe. Take China for instance, long perceived as inferior when it came to watch production. That stigma has been well and truly broken as several brands and (independent) watchmakers have made great strides to produce watches to the very best of their abilities, coming close to or even rivalling the main establishment. One such man is Qin Gan, the Chinese watchmaker known for his beautiful Pastorale. Now, three years after its commercial debut, Qin Gan is ready to launch the handsome Pastorale II.Qin Gan (right) with industry veteran Dominique Renaud (left).Residing in Chongqing, China, Qin Gan’s journey into watchmaking is quite remarkable. As the son of a well-respected watchmaker
Hands on with the Montblanc TimeWalker TwinFly GreyTech - Monochrome Watches
During the fair in Geneva, we got hands on time with the new Montblanc TimeWalker TwinFly GreyTech. This is a new ‘Monochrome’ version of the ‘normal’ TimeWalker TwinFly that?Montblanc introduced last year.?The TimeWalker TwinFly features the impressive in-house movement, caliber MB LL100. Like the first caliber-family, which is used in the?Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph, it has a double mainspring barrel offering a power reserve of 72 hours and a chronograph that is actuated through a column wheel and vertical clutch! Ad - Scroll to continue with article The in-house movement is very impressive and when considering the price of the TwinFly, it’s even better. The specifications and the fact it has an in-house movement, are usually not found in watches in the same price range. Let’s take a look at the specifications: In-house aut
Hands-on with the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionnelle Small Seconds - Monochrome Watches
Recently we had the chance to get up close and personal with the new Patrimony Traditionnelle Small Seconds in platinum, that Vacheron Constantin introduced earlier this year at the SIHH. This new model has all the looks and attributes of a classic dress watch, and it’s one of the most attractive classic dress watches that we have seen in a long time.?Part of its great looks, is that it is not the standard classic dress watch and sets itself a bit apart from other dress watches in pink/yellow gold with a silver/white dial. The grey dial with the slightly recessed small seconds sub dial that is encircled by a rail track seconds index. looks a tad more sporty than a standard dress watch’s dial. And that perfectly matches with the platinum case, that measures 38 mm in diameter and 7.77 mm in height. Not too small, not too big… Vacheron Constantin got it just right.? Hands-On Vacheron Metiers dArt Tribute to great civilisations with Le Louvre
Watchmaking is at the crossroads of art and science. Just like Da Vinci's works. This might be enough to make the partnership between Vacheron Constantin and Le Louvre a natural fit. Specifically for a brand that has always demonstrated a commitment to perpetuate and encourage the metiers d'art traditional (and often rare) skills and a deep-felt attachment to culture. When the brand announced its partnership with Le Louvre in 2019, many immediately wondered whether this could lead to the creation of watches inspired by the museum's masterpieces. In 2020, the Bid for the Louvre charity offered the opportunity for a buyer to customize a unique piece featuring one of the museum collection's artworks on its dial Today, Vacheron Constantin takes the covers off a quartet of limited edition watches paying tribute to the great civilizations of Antiquity, inspired by Masterpieces conserved in Le Louvre. The Vacheron Constantin Metiers d'Art Tribute to Great Civilisations collection?is a quartet
