A. Lange & Sohne Triple Split - The New Mightier Than Mighty Chronograph (SIHH 2018) - Monochrome Watches
Several years ago I had the pleasure of reviewing the A. Lange & Sohne Double Split and called it the uber-chrono. To be clear, this has nothing to do with its functions but is entirely due to its spectacularly beautiful movement. Of course, the Double Split is the only mechanical double split-second chronograph, so that certainly demands some respect, but the movement’s architecture and finishing show a breath-taking beauty that no watch lover can ignore. And now there’s a Triple Split! Does that mean that the uber-chrono has been surpassed? Yep, it does, and… it’s limited to only 100 pieces! The Double Split is lovingly referred to, by admirers and owners of this watch, as the Mighty Double Split. It truly is mighty in so many ways. Do keep in mind that we’re still talking about mechanics here, and we are all aware that every iPhone does the same trick. But that’s not the point. The point is that some functions can be achieved by a collection of
The Collector's Series - Philipp Man, CEO of Chronext, and his icon, a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 - Monochrome Watches

Hands-On: Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono Cycling Edition at Chasing Cancellara
Two years ago, Tudor announced its entry into the world of cycling, partnering with cycling legend Fabian Cancellara to create the Tudor Pro Cycling Team. Tudor soon developed a special edition Black Bay Chrono Dark for the team, which we discovered during a training camp with the team in early 2023. Just a few weeks ago, on the occasion of the Giro d'Italia, Tudor presented its first commercially available cycling-themed watch, the Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono Cycling Edition, which we were fortunate enough to test for a few days. To give the watch the best possible chance to impress us, I even wore it in its natural environment during one of the most demanding one-day amateur cycling races in Switzerland, the 2024 Bern-Zermatt endurance event from the Chasing Cancellara series. The “Chasing Cancellara” endurance eventChasing Cancellara is an amateur cycling endurance event organised by Swiss cycling icon Fabian Cancellara, a double Olympic champion, multiple world champion, an

Since its creation in 1918, Mido (a brand owned by the Swatch Group) has made a name for itself with its very coherent offering, combining reliability and accessibility. In recent years, the brand has also demonstrated its capacity to create cool, nicely designed watches – the latest Ocean Star GMT being a perfect example of that strategy. If you want something a bit less on the tool/sporty side, Mido has just released a new edition of the Commander Big Date, a great all-rounder with many arguments at a fair price. And it does look good too! While Tissot offers such all-rounded style with the Gentleman collection – let’s be honest, the Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium is one of the best watches in this price range, featuring everything you’ll ever need and more – Mido’s answer to a watch that looks good everywhere and every day of the week is named the Commander. Modern, sharp, elegant with a slight casual touch, it is packed with cool features. And t
