Hands-On Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 34mm
It might be smaller than your average Royal Oak, but there is no mistaking the lineage of these 34mm models. All the salient Royal Oak traits are now housed in a more condensed case, an ideal size for smaller wrists and a solid unisex proposal. Although 34mm might strike you as small in a line-up of watches represented in diameters of 44, 42, 41, 39, 38 and 37mm, there is another even smaller model with a 33mm diameter but fitted with a quartz movement. There must be demand for quartz models because the 33mm is not going to be replaced by the mechanical 34mm. Fitted with a specifically designed self-winding movement, the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 34mm comes in steel, pink gold and two-tone case options, with or without diamonds. The full Royal Oak packageThe new cases measure 34mm and have a restrained thickness of 8.8mm. Introducing The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce Annual Calendar 5261R
Patek Philippe’s patented annual calendar mechanism (1996) debuts inside an Aquanaut model for 2023. Presented in a unisex 39.9mm rose gold case with a bluish-grey dial, the annual calendar brings a useful and easy-to-use complication to the Aquanaut family. A new automatic movement with an inverted annual calendar module powers the Aquanaut Luce Annual Calendar. In 1997, Patek Philippe launched its sporty chic Aquanaut, nearly two decades after the debut of its iconic Nautilus luxury steel sports watch. With its rounded octagonal case, clearly inspired by that of the Nautilus, and tropical composite strap, the more modern spirit of the Aquanaut was out to capture a new, younger audience. The Aquanaut Luce, a ladies’ version of the watch, joined the catalogue in 2004. Forgive us for differing, but although the brand catalogues this new model as a ladies’ watch, we think it works exceptionally well as a gent’s watch. Ad - Scroll to continue with article

Bearing the code name Commando', in 1967 Tudor embarked upon an ambitious project for the US Navy to replace the standard-issue Oyster Prince Submariner 7928 reference. Although it never got beyond the prototype stage – as Ref. 7016 was eventually adopted to replace the 7928 – archival information held by the brand has allowed Tudor to recreate the look and feel of this legendary tool watch. For Baselworld 2019, Tudor revisits this little-known chapter in its history and presents the Black Bay P01 (prototype 1). Housed in a robust 42mm steel case with a winding crown at 4 o'clock and water-resistance of 200m, the watch pays homage to the past but operates with a contemporary COSC-certified automatic manufacture movement.Project CommandoThis year Tudor digs into its archives and recreates a commercial version of a prototype from 1967.
