Embracing Death with the Chopard L.U.C Full Strike 'D¨ªa de los Muertos'
The D¨ªa de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a day of celebrating the lives of our deceased loved ones, instead of mourning over their passing. It is a day of remembering the good times and cherishing valuable memories. While primarily celebrated in Latin American cultures, it is embraced by an increasing number of people outside of that. Dedicated to this rather special day, Chopard has created a one of a kind Haute Horlogerie piece. This is the Chopard L.U.C Full Strike D¨ªa de los Muertos. The D¨ªa de Los Muertos is a rather joyous occasion, dedicated to life instead of death in contrast to what the name might imply. Celebrations often include the use of bright coloured depictions of skulls, called Calaveras, and lots of music. In that sense, creating a minute repeater in honour of this day seems like a logical choice, even if it is a one-off only. It’s also not the first time Chopard has embraced the Day of the Dead as inspiration for a unique piece. Ad - Scroll to
2020 Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935 (Specs & Price)
We’ve said it before: Longines is one of the brands with the richest history and it is clear that the current management knows how to capitalize on this with the successful Heritage collection – which has recently seen the addition of the Tuxedo or the Sector dial models. One area of expertise for Longines has always been aviation watches, with models like the BigEye or the Hour Angle watch made for Charles Lindberg. And there’s the iconic Type A-7, which today makes its comeback in a more reasonable and faithful package.?The 1935 Longines?Type A-7 for the US ArmyFirst issued between the World Wars, the Type A-7 Avigation Hack Watch was a pocket watch chronograph adapted to the wrist specifically designed for navigation. Think of it as an American equivalent to the German B-Uhr Fliegers, only with a chronograph, or to the French Type 20 (see our article about Type 20 watches here). It was supplied to the US Army Air Corps (1926-1941), the predecessor of the US Army Ai
Hysek Verdict 46mm Double Tourbillon Sapphire Dial - Monochrome-Watches
What is the goal of a tourbillon? Improving the accuracy, by?negating the effect of gravity. What is the goal of a double tourbillon? Improving twice this accuracy. As basic?as it seems to be, a double tourbillon is not a simple mechanism. And that’s what Hysek, a brand we didn’t cover yet, choose to introduce this year, in the Verdict 46mm Double Tourbillon Sapphire Dial. And this is not the only feature that comes into this watch.Hysek, for those who don’t know the brand, is quite young as it was founded in 1997. The collection is composed of mainly large and robust timepieces with a strong design but also with highly technical movements, such as tourbillons or skeletonized watches. What appeals us is the fact that in 2007, they build their own manufacture where these watches are now designed, developed and crafted. Something that should attracts you?if you are reading us quite often! Ad - Scroll to continue with article

Kees Engelbarts Platinum Tsuba Watch - Piece Unique - Monochrome Watches
When you want a unique watch, a truly unique watch, and I’m not talking about a highly limited edition of a few dozen or even a few hundred pieces, there’s actually not that much choice. Certainly, if?you can spare a few?millions, you can ask one of the oldest watch companies – Vacheron Constantin – to create the most complicated watch in the world. However you can also choose to go another route, namely the route of hand-engraved and open-worked watches. And than you’ll find that one person in particular is a master of that game, and known around the world, among a small group of esteemed collectors, for his Mokume Gane, stunning?dragons and highly open-worked movements. I’m talking about Geneva-based master-engraver Kees Engelbarts and today we’re going to have a closer look at his latest unique piece, the Platinum Tsuba Watch.Kees Engelbarts started his career as an engraver, however because of his personal interest in Japan and Japanese art
