Grand Seiko Spring Drive SBGA211 marks the launch of the Grand Seiko as a separate brand. The watch is a beautiful masterpiece by the brand introduced in 2017. With a perfect blend of modern style and sophistication, the watch is a must-have. It has an all-silver finish, and features a white dial with silver tone hands and hour markers. The dial also displays the date at the 3 o'clock position. The most outperforming feature of the watch is its spring-driven movement that does not rely on batteries or any other external power source. -

Interview with Lewis Hamilton about Formula 1, IWC Watches and what may be next
Just ahead of the French Grand Prix last weekend, I had the chance to sit down with two of the best drivers currently racing in Formula 1, both behind the wheel of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport W09: Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. IWC is a major sponsor of team Mercedes, and both drivers wear gloves with the well-known Big Pilot’s Watch printed on them. So, as you can imagine, the interview steered onto the watch track and we can even tell you what watches both gentlemen might be designing one day with the brand First part, Lewis talks to MONOCHROME.Lewis Hamilton and Brice Goulard (Managing Editor) talking watches – Photo by Wolfgang WilhelmThe French GP was a blast for Lewis Hamilton who started in P1 and ended the race in P1 The perfect weekend for him. If the French GP was somewhat chaotic (many crashes but also lots of overtaking?¨C always good to see as a spectator), we can't say the same about Lewis's race, which was slightly smoother - and very successful.
Revisiting An Icon - The Seiko Speedtimer - Monochrome Watches
Our new contributor, Evan Yueng, has a real fetish for the first automatic chronograph. Like me! Although I focus mainly on the outcome of the cooperation between Heuer, Breitling, Buren and Dubois-Depraz, Evan focusses on Seiko’s first automatic chronograph, the Speedtimer.?It’s been years since the craze for the Daytona has began, and even more years since the advent of automatic chronographs themselves. Back in the 70s, the Heuers and the El Primeros have taken a foothold of the entire sports watch industry by racing to become the first to produce an automatic chronograph. It’s been a feat that has been debated for so long on who really won, but in the background of all of this, another manufacturer, quietly created one to call their own – the Seiko 6139 or what others would like to call the Speedtimer. Mastering shapes, for gentlemen - Review of the Cartier Drive in Gold (live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
If there’s one thing and one thing only to remember about Cartier (among many others of course) is how this Old Maison always mastered shapes, like not other brand achieved and always with a restrained, somehow old-fashioned elegance. Recently, the brand made?incursions in new worlds, like for instance the sporty Calibre de Cartier and its Diver edition. They also introduced a yachting-style Ronde Croisiere. But this year, at the SIHH 2016, Cartier probably introduced THE watch that many of us were expecting: an elegant, shaped, refined watch, with just a bit of vintage appeal, an in-house movement and a price that surprised more than just a few. This watch is named?the Cartier Drive and it’s a pure?summary of why we love Cartier.Cartier, a Master of shapesOne thing is important to notice with?Cartier; unlike many brands, they always had a strong focus on shaped watches. Many brands tried to do this – especially in the 1920s and 1930s, where Art-Deco also influenced w
Buying Guide; All Eyes On The Moonphase With 6 Mechanical Marvels
The moon has fascinated mankind for millennia, and our neighbouring satellite has had a monumental impact on life. It has been detrimental in the early days of telling time, serving as a reference beacon in the sky for people around the globe. It’s no wonder then, that plenty of brands feature a miniature representation of the moon prominently on the dial of a watch. We’ve looked at the topic before, but this time around we pay homage to our Moon with five marvellous mechanical watches featuring the most classical of representations.Trilobe Les Matinaux L’Heure ExquiseFrench independent watchmaking brand Trilobe serenades the moon with the wonderful Les Matinaux L’Heure Exquise. Not only does it feature the brand’s signature continuously revolving display of time, but it incorporates it with a detailed double moonphase where the running seconds indications used to be. Available in two sizes, with titanium or gold cases, and deep blue or dune beige dials, i
Hands-on with the Montblanc Meisterstuck Heritage Pulsograph with Minerva Monopusher Chronograph - Monochrome Watches
Before and during the SIHH 2014, in January of this year, we showed you most of the new Montblanc timepieces. We owe you some good hands-on reports about the new pieces, especially of the Meisterstuck Heritage collection. During the SIHH we sat down with Ben Clymer, founder and executive editor from Hodinkee, to discuss the new Meisterstuck Heritage collection and today we’re going to review his (and our) favourite, the Meisterstuck Heritage Pulsograph. If we have to choose a favourite, it is most definitely the Heritage Pulsograph. Simply because it offers a hand-made, fully hand-finished, absolutely stunning movement, for an extremely competitive price. In that perspective it perfectly fits in the Meisterstuck Heritage collection, as the price level of all timepieces in this collection is almost shockingly competitive. And that’s something that most have surprised not only you and us, but also the competition. One thing became immediately clear, when we handled the new ti
