The 2021 Revamped Omega Seamaster 300 Collection (hands-on photos)
Launched in 2014, the Omega Seamaster 300 – not to be confused with the more modern James Bond Seamaster Diver 300M – has been the brand’s vintage evocation of the original 1957 Seamaster 300. Still, its previous iteration (2014) was perhaps a bit too technical and sporty. Well, Omega has apparently understood that and for 2021, introduces an entirely revamped model. If the basics are still here, meaning a look inspired by the 1957 reference CK2913, the case, the dial, the movement, and most details are new. And there’s even an unprecedented bronze-gold version coming, in a one-of-a-kind alloy. Let’s have a first look, in the metal, at this 2021 Omega Seamaster 300 Collection.Introduced in 1957 alongside the first Speedmaster and the Railmaster – thus creating the iconic Professional trilogy – the Seamaster 300 represents one of the brand’s most important and most influential watches. Its design, with its typical 2-part bezel – comb
Edox SkyDiver Neptunian Dive Watch (Specs & Price)
I've said this many times; dive watches are a dime a dozen these days. You've got , Blancpain and Omega (among others) covering the high end, while Seiko, Hamilton and Oris bring things down to Earth. From a usability standpoint, few things separate these offerings as depth ratings vary from 100 to 300 metres and it's just a matter of finding the right tool for the job. The ultra-deep divers, like this new Edox SkyDiver Neptunian, bring a special spec to the table that few others can match. A full 1,000-metre rating is fairly rare and Edox achieves this at a surprisingly affordable price point.?Edox is no newcomer to the industry, founded in 1884 in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. It introduced several aquatic innovations in the 1960s, including the renowned Delfin dive watch with a patented crown system. This double waterproof joint allowed for a 500-metre depth rating, unheard of at the time, and became a hit with both divers and boatsmen. The SkyDiver Neptunian is based on the elusive Sk
In The Shop - The Hand-Made MONOCHROME Alligator Straps
We at MONOCHROME, just like you, love beautiful watches. And by that, we mean all kinds of watches: modern, sporty, iconic, elegant, dressy, vintage or simply classic. For this very reason, when we decided to introduce straps in the MONOCHROME shop, we had to make a choice based on what we’d like to see on our own watches. The result is the?MONOCHROME Alligator Leather Straps. A meticulous choice of leather, four classic colours, unique details to give them a twist and outstanding quality (more on that later).Just like the Canvas Watch Rolls we presented to you recently, the?MONOCHROME Alligator Leather Straps are the result of our passion for watches. They are what we, the MONOCHROME editorial team, would love to pair with our beloved watches – and in fact, the watches you can see in this article come from our personal (modest) collections. While there’s an invasion of vintage-style straps on the market, we thought about those with more classic, more elegant watches
Video The Piaget Polo Skeleton (Specs & Price)
The Piaget Polo luxury sports watch collection has recently been extended with a fascinating skeletonised model. Leaner than the two existing models in the collection, the distinctive cushion-shaped case of the 42mm steel Piaget Polo frames the refined mechanics of the ultra-thin skeletonised calibre. The curvaceous architecture of the bridges and mainplate allows light to penetrate the calibre from both sides of the case. Available in blue or grey, the Piaget Polo Skeleton is proof positive that the bold, contemporary shape of Piaget's luxurious sports watch is perfectly compatible with the ethereal elegance and beauty of a skeletonised calibre. Something you can admire in the video on top of this article.GenesisYves G. Piaget, the fourth generation of the Piaget dynasty, was the brainchild of the Polo. With the brand's celebrated reputation as a watchmaker and jeweller, Yves Piaget trained as a watchmaking engineer and a gemmologist to join the family business in 1966. His passion fo
Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec for Only Watch 2013 - Monochrome Watches
I’ve just returned from Switzerland, where I visited both Montblanc watch manufactures together with the winner of the sweepstake that we did recently (see here). Soon you can read all about our three-day trip to Montblanc’s manufactures in Le Locle and in Villeret, but today I’d like to share some exclusive photos of Montblanc’s watch for the Only Watch auction. While we were there, they pulled it out the 500 hour test for a brief moment, so we could see it and of course take some photos to share with you.?Montblanc’s entry for the Only Watch auction is a unique black DLC version of the Nicolas Rieussec Rising Hours, which was introduced earlier this year, with a rose gold crown, pushers and screws in de case back. The Rotating hour disk now also comes in gold and the model name, minute markers and several other details are printed in brown/gold.?The bridge that holds the minute and seconds hand (the disks rotate) is gold plated and so are the two attache
