Vacheron Constantin introduces 4 limited editions for Moscow Boutique Opening - Monochrome-Watches
Vacheron Constantin has just opened a new boutique in Moscow. As the brand traditionally does when opening a new flagship store, new limited editions are being introduced. They did it for the?Parisian boutique with a series of very nice pink gold and guilloche-dial watches?and with the very stylish 1972 Prestige. For their new Russian store, VC is coming with?black dials for 4 of their most iconic models. The recently opened boutique (20 June 2014) is located in the Russian capital city and offers 352 square meters in which to discover and enjoy the whole collection of Vacheron Constantin in a very pleasant setting; the space is beautifully appointed in every detail, as is every VC boutique – we can attest to the boutiques' atmosphere, especially having been recently inside the Parisian boutique to have some hands-on time with a stunning vintage chronograph.Ribbon Cutting in Front of the Moscow BoutiqueVacheron Constantin now delights us with 4 limited editions of existing watches
Introducing: The MING 21.01... 35mm, Tantalum, Vintage Piguet Movement
Watches, like most products from industrial activities, are ruled by constraints and compromises – whether these are commercial, technological, design-oriented or economical. This is why we, watch enthusiasts, can often be rather disappointed by many new releases. Surely, independent watchmakers playing in a much higher price range can overpass some of these constraints, as a higher budget certainly helps in minimising compromise. Well, sometimes. What Ming Thein, founder of the MING brand and renowned photographer, had to deal with was another challenge… how would a watch designed entirely for himself, within feasible limits, but free of any other constraints look? That was the question of a group of collectors. The answer is here: the MING 21.01 “Project 21” and its rather unusual list of specifications…In 2023, Ming Thein was hosting a dinner in Singapore, and this question regarding a watch entirely designed for himself was asked to him. Could somethin
Hands-On Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 in stainless steel - High-end made accessible - Monochrome Watches
It all began 20 years ago, when in-house and independent sourcing of movements were not yet in vogue across the watch industry. The presentation of a splendid micro-rotor movement manufactured in Fleurier, a watchmaking town of Val-de-Travers, gave birth to the Chopard L.U.C series, a highly respected collection among watch connoisseurs. This Chopard collection now celebrates its 20th anniversary, with the introduction of several models. Among these, the XPS 1860 houses the brand's original micro-rotor movement in a steel case and is definitely worth a close look.Back in the early 1990s, at a time when very few brands were manufacturing their own movements, Chopard – under the guidance of Karl-Fiedrich Scheufele – initiated a program to produce a movement of their own in Fleurier. In 1996, the brand proudly introduced the L.U.C 1860 watch, housing their first in-house movement, the calibre 1.96. This milestone gave birth to a remarkable collection of watches, embodying Chop
IWC Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante Edition Boutique Munich / Paris
Following its?launch in 1995, the IWC Portugieser Chrono-graph Rattrapante (Ref. 3712) quickly gained?the status of icon. For a start it was?a?Portugieser (which alone makes this watch totally emblematic of the?Schaffhausen-based manufacture) plus it?also featured?quite a special split-second chronograph complication. Yes, it is a rattrapante but that’s not what made it special per se. It’s special because at the time it was a?simple and accessible rattrapante, which?was very cool. Unfortunately, this watch was discontinued in?2006… Until earlier this year that, when it was revived?in a gold limited edition for Milano. Today that model is joined?by two siblings, this time in stainless steel?– which?is really cool. Presenting?the “new” Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante Boutique Editions, one for Munich and the other for the Rue de la Paix / Paris. The original, the 1995 IWC Portugieser Chrono-graph Rattrapante (Ref. 3712) Ad - Scroll to co
Eric Clapton's Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph ref.2499 - Monochrome Watches
From time to time, there are articles written about our favorite topic, articles that are truly great and a must read. Ben Clymer, executive editor from Hodinkee, just wrote such an article. An article that shares great knowledge, interesting facts and passion all in one story.?This story is about the only platinum Patek Philippe ref. 2499, a perpetual calendar chronograph, that is in private hands. In the hands of nobody less that Eric Clapton, who is single-(slow)-handedly responsible for me starting to play guitar. By now most of my friends have forgiven him, so I’d like to highlight another passion we have in common… watches and in this case a particular watch he offers for sale at the upcoming Christies auction in Geneva.
