In-Depth - How Tissot Has Drastically Improved the Valjoux 7750?
Just yesterday, Tissot introduced a lovely and affordable vintage-inspired chronograph, the Telemeter 1938. The watch’s bi-compax layout comes courtesy of a legendary chronograph calibre, one of the most widely-used movements in the industry, the ETA-Valjoux 7750. This precise, tried-and-tested workhorse was created in the early 1970s. In its 50-year history, the Valjoux calibre has naturally evolved, with different variants, functions, and layouts. The movement has also been updated in the frame of continuous optimisation, in particular, by incorporating modern technologies to evolve in synchrony with the times. This brings us here, with the calibre reference A05.231, the latest evolution of the 7750 that Tissot has incorporated in its lovely vintage-inspired watch.Valjoux (which stands for Vallee de Joux, a historically important location for the Swiss industry) was a manufacturer of mechanical movements, specialising in chronographs. The company's movements powered the product
Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech 3 Days Automatic 47mm PAM00616 (Specs & Price)
Carbon fibre - in all its composite guises – has become the material of the moment and has been used across the board, from Bvlgari's chiming marvel to faux carbon dials on TAG Heuer’s Aquaracer… Whether or not an Haute Horlogerie model like the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon looks good in its high-tech black suit is debatable, but one thing is certain, carbon cases work especially well for a brand like Panerai. A top military secret until 1993, Officine Panerai crafted high-tech instruments for the Italian Navy’s its covert underwater operations before it surfaced and worked its magic on dry land. Panerai was the first brand to use Carbotech - a composite material based on carbon fibre – and unveiled its 47mm Luminor Submersible 1950 ref. PAM00616 model in a striking, black mottled case. Although this was back in 2015, we recently had the watch in our hands and thought a reappraisal was in order.Laboratorio di Idee: the Alchemy of MaterialsFrom the
Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Master Chronometer White Dial / Review, Price
Possibly the most handsome iteration of the Seamaster Diver 300M (discreetly) unveiled earlier this year, this white ceramic dial model is now officially in stores. Taking advantage of this long-awaited moment for many Omega fans, we're going to take a closer look at the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M with White Dial, a watch whose powerful design and technical prowess have catapulted it to cinematic fame (did we say Bond?)BACKGROUNDIn 1993, Omega launched the Seamaster Professional 300M series. Marking a strong return to the field of diver's watches, the new line was equipped with a distinctive screwed helium valve and introduced in two formats: a world-first chronograph with pushers functional to a depth of 300m, and a standard 3-hand-and-date diver with chronometer status. Antiquorum is preparing itself for yet another auction in Hong Kong. This city is not only a thrilling place by itself, it is also a city where watches are more than appreciated! To meet the cities passion for high end horlogerie Antiquorum has once again succeeded in an impressive array of watches.Amongst them a couple of very beautiful Jaeger-LeCoultre clocks, the usual high-end Pateks and.R2D2's brother. Atleast that is what it seems like since its name and looks are just as exotic. The TME01 (Time Machine Experience) was created by Marc Alfieri, who in the past has also teamed up with Chaumet for which he created a special TME01 and Cabestan? with whom he developed the Sol Invictus, while he was also involved with Kronotype.
