Luxury Watches |
Spirit of Liberty is a classic American collection. This dress watch gets its name due to its vintage American styling of the watch; the most important feature is the engraved quote of the leather strap which says, ¡®without liberty, life is a misery,' quoted by Andrew Hamilton. This classic all- black watch has a very un-crowded, clean dial, delicate hour hands of luminous silver which matches with the case and the index marking and a slightly sun-brushed dark black dial.

Introducing the A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Chronograph Boutique Edition (back with Pulsation Scale) - Monochrome-Watches
The?A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Chronograph is the entry-level chronograph of the Saxonian Manufacture… and what an entry-level watch! This visually simple timepiece shares its base movement (just a tiny bit modified to remove the Date and the power reserve) with the iconic Dufour-Graph, the A. Lange & Sohne Datograph?– quite a pedigree,?you’ll admit. Today, there is a new edition on the?market, the?A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Chronograph Boutique Edition, that revamps a feature that some collectors will definitely love, a pulsation scale. As said, the 1815 Chronograph is the little brother of the iconic Datograph. It shares the same base movement (in this context, the Calibre L951.5) and the same exquisite finishing but in a clean, crisper style. Some collectors even find this 1815 more interesting than the?Dato because of this sleek design and thinner?profile (due to the lack of the large date and the power reserve indicator – the Up/Down complication). The A.
Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition SLGH003 Calibre 9SA5
While it has never been a secret that Grand Seiko was capable of crafting some of the finest and most precise luxury watches – pieces that are clearly on par with the best Swiss manufacturers – the concept of innovation at GS is less widely known. Recently, the brand unveiled a concept movement, the T0 Tourbillon Constant Force, a proper demonstration of savoir-faire. Also, Grand Seiko unveiled its Calibre 9SA5, an unprecedented escapement packed with innovations. First unveiled in gold, this powerful engine now comes in a stainless steel limited edition inside the new SLGH003.Undeniably an attractive watch,? the SLGH002 was produced in a limited run of 100 watches and was cased in 18k making with a price tag of EUR 45,000; two factors that converted it into a highly limited and inaccessible watch. We knew back then that this watch was a showcase piece to announce the brand’s new calibre, the Hi-Beat automatic 9SA5.? With a revolutionary geometry for its escapement, t
Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8-Days and what's so "Seiko" about the Spring Drive technology - Monochrome Watches
Here’s the start of a story that I didn’t expect to publish on Monochrome, ever! It’s about a watch with a movement that is equipped with a quartz crystal. Wait… talking about quartz? On Monochrome? Well, I wouldn’t say that I’ve turned to the dark side, however visiting Seiko in Japan last year has opened my eyes to the beauty of the Spring Drive movements, even if?the regulating organ inside features something that would usually leave some bad taste in my mouth…a quartz crystal. Today we’re going to explore to Spring Drive technology and the reason why I was so open to learning more about this technology… the stunning Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8-Days.?Last year I had the privilege to visit Seiko (and Grand Seiko) in Japan on an extensive 5-day trip. One of the things that stood out to me, was that the Japanese have a much different approach to watchmaking than the Swiss or the Germans. Although I find the German approach already so
The Omega Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer (Specs & Price)
The Speedmaster has long been associated with Space exploration, specifically since 1969 when the watch made it to the surface of the Moon, after NASA qualified it for all manned space missions. Yet, the Moonwatch, also known as the classic Speedmaster Profesional with its hand-wound mechanical movement, isn’t the only watch produced by Omega to have been in Space. Indeed, ESA (the European Space Agency) has long been involved with the Biel-based brand in the development of an advanced tool for its pilots and crewmembers, the so-called Skywalker or X-33. Still partnering with ESA, here’s the watch that is ready for the next giant leap, the watch designed to measure every moment on planet Earth, and Mars! Meet the Omega Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer.Quick recap about the Speedmaster X-33If the original Speedmaster Moonwatch surely is the most famous of all space-related watches, it's also somehow a bit outdated regarding its specifications – at least when it comes to true
The New Dial Colours Of The Vacheron Constantin Patrimony
As the world's oldest watch manufacturer in continuous production since 1755, Vacheron Constantin can be proud of its distinguished heritage. With a rich archive at its disposition, the brand can dip into over two and a half centuries for inspiration. The Patrimony collection made its debut in 2004 and turned its gaze back to the elegant minimalism of the 1950s for inspiration, particularly the 1957 ref. 6179 characterised by its slim, round case, slender bezel and understated styling. A balance between the rounded curves and taut lines distinguishes the collection that proposes three refreshed models for 2024. While the specifications of the Patrimony Manual-Winding and Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date remain almost untouched, the novelties are the incorporation of a new silver-toned dial, a smaller case size for the manual-winding model and a refreshing palette of strap colours.Although the brand describes the new dial colour as an old-silver-toned colour, the press photographs i
