News: The Vacheron Constantin Solaria Ultra Grand Complication Becomes the Worlds Most Complicated Wristwatch
Celebrating its grand 270th anniversary, Vacheron Constantin's bespoke Les Cabinotiers atelier presents a record-breaking watch with no fewer than 41 complications. Still holding the record for the world's most complex pocket watch, the Berkley, itself beating its own reference 57260, Vacheron now claims the title for the world's most complicated wristwatch, overtaking the Franck Muller Aeternitas Mega 5 with 36 complications and the Audemars Piguet 11.59 Universelle with 23. Pulling out all the stops, Vacheron unveils its Les Cabinotiers Solaria Ultra Grand Complication, a staggering achievement on all fronts and an extreme exercise in miniaturisation.Facts & FIguresThe figures speak for themselves. Developed over eight years by one watchmaker, the Solaria has 41 complications spread over two dials, 1,521 components, 13 patent applications, five rare astronomical complications, including the temporal tracking of celestial objects (a world premiere) with a split-seconds chronograph
Introducing The New Norqain Adventure Neverest 40mm Line
Norqain and mountain climbing adventures go hand in hand. Founded just three years ago, the logo of this successful independent ?Swiss brand is a mountain peak. Today, Norqain releases the Adventure Neverest Line, a sub-collection in the Adventure family that marks the brand's charitable partnership with the Butterfly Help Project to support schooling for children in Nepal. Three new models kick-start the partnership and mark the first Adventure models to be fitted with Kenissi manufacture chronometer-rated calibres, a new 40mm case size, increased water-resistance, the removal of the date window and a screw-down crown. The textured white dial of the Neverest Glacier model replicates the phenomenon of glacier crevasses on the most dangerous stage of the ascent to the summit of Mount Everest.Brief BackgroundIt's encouraging to see how far this independent family-run company has ascended in such a short period of time, but you could say that it had a good head start. In-Depth - The Vacheron Constantin 1955 Cornes de Vache, And Milestone Vintage Chronographs From The Museum
Based on the vintage reference 6087, a watch launched in 1955, the modern so-called Cornes de Vache is, without doubt, one of the most sought-after Vacheron Constantin Chronographs. Available only in platinum or pink gold until very recently, a new steel version has recently been introduced but given the limited production and great demand, it is very difficult to find. On the occasion of a visit to the Manufacture, we have taken a look at some milestone watches from the Vacheron Constantin museum collections to better understand the genesis of this superb chronograph.POCKET CHRONOGRAPHSAs you would expect from the oldest watchmaker that has been in production without interruption, Vacheron Constantin has a rich history in chronographs (and in watches in general). The company produced dead-beat seconds pocket watches, often regarded as the ancestor of the chronograph, as early as 1819 – with an independent dead-beat seconds powered by a dedicated gear train.?Vacheron Constantin
Introducing Bulgari Octo Finissimo Rose Gold and Brown Dial Collection
We’re right in the middle of what has become an important watch event of the year, a casual, relaxed fair that takes in the capital of watchmaking: Geneva Watch Days. One of the main actors of this show is Bulgari, and among the novelties of the Italian brand in the Finissimo range, there is a rather impressive 8-day Skeleton Octo Finissimo. So here we are with the new rose gold and brown dial editions of the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic and Chronograph GMT. And that also means the discontinuation of one of our favourite early Octo Finissimo models…The new discontinued Octo Finissimo Automatic in sandblasted goldAll new models in the record-breaking Octo Finissimo collection were launched, at first, in sandblasted titanium with a tone-on-tone dial. This discreet, industrial and monochromatic design has become a signature element of the collection, with a matte finishing that makes them unique. Still, more materials and colours have been used over the years, such as stai
Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue M79030B - Specs & Price
This is it… Somehow unexpected but also envisioned by some collectors, the new Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue. We thought Tudor was not introducing new models this year, and they proved us wrong. First in line for 2020 (and maybe the only new model), a rather simple but efficient animation of an existing watch. Based on the praised and well-executed model introduced a couple of years ago, the brand now adds a cold colour scheme to its vintage-inspired diver.Blue is part of Tudor’s identity and has been widely used in past and modern models. We’re not going to go into full details here since we’ll be having a hands-on with this watch in a few days. But here’s what you need to know in a glance. Blue is an important colour for Tudor, mostly seen in the highly collectable Submariner watches manufactured for the French Navy (Marine Nationale). As such, we’ve seen multiple editions of modern Tudor watches presented in this desirable colour, including the 4
