Luxury Watches |
A unique balance of long Hamilton tradition and the reflection of true innovation, the Jazzmaster Open Heart offers a sight of its precise Swiss movement in action, under the hood. It's a watch that shows Hamilton at its best. The watch is 100-meter water resistant and proves Hamilton to be a premium American watchmaker. A three-hand movement with a date calendar function and a truly amazing power reserve of 80 hours. And with a leather strap, this watch just keeps getting more eloquent.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon
Originally designed as a time-and-date model when it was introduced in 1972, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak has since been offered with countless complications, including the most complex of them all, a grand complication. The tourbillon, an AP speciality is, of course, no stranger to the Royal Oak and was first used in the iconic luxury sports watch in 1997 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this model. Today, the latest evolution is revealed, this time with an automatic flying tourbillon movement, first launched in Code 11.59. Available in three versions, including a surprising titanium edition, here’s the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon 41mm.Looking at the current Royal Oak collection, you’ll notice that there is already a tourbillon model. Yet, this iteration of the RO is hand-wound, features an extra-thin movement and its tourbillon cage has a classic architecture, with bridges front and back. Today, the brand introduces something more modern a
Patek Philippe 175 auction by Christie's - Results and analysis - Monochrome-Watches
That’s it! The Christie’s auction for Patek Philippe 175th Anniversary is done and well done. With a total amount of CHF 19,367,000 (around EUR 16,100,000 or USD 20,000,000) for 100 lots, we’re in front of quite a serious amount (an average of 190,000 CHF per lot). We introduced to you the highlights of the sale a few weeks ago and we were impressed by the selection. It is now time for us to see the results of the auction’s highlights and of a few others watches that might be interesting. If you take a look at the catalog and the results, you’ll notice that most of the lots had been sold at prices higher than the estimates. Some of them, such as lots 83, 78 or 44 even doubled the estimate. It especially true for the ‘cheapest‘ lots. We also had some surprises, such as lot?39, certainly one of the most expansive 3-hand watches?ever sold or lot 89 that reached and incredible price for a vintage Patek Philippe Nautilus. We’ll get back on thes
REC Watches 901 GW Chelsea Grey Chronograph
Danish watchmaking brand REC Watches has regularly been featured on MONOCHROME, as there's often just something different and cool about its watches. Whether it is a pilot's watch inspired by the Spitfire, a tool-like watch taking cues from a Land Rover or even watches dedicated to the Ford Mustang, there’s a red line running through all collections. REC Watches uses actual components of cars that inspire each collection, fulfilling its ambition of RECycle, RECover, REClaim in the process. The latest creation, inspired by a pair of restomod Porsche 993s by Gunther Werks, is a robust and race-ready chronograph. We've gone hands-on with a late-stage prototype of the REC Watches 901 GW Chelsea Grey.In automotive-related watches, brands tend to take inspiration from iconic cars, race tracks, or even events like the Mille Miglia. Instead, REC Watches uses actual components to be incorporated into every watch made, something we’ve explained when first covering the new 901 GW coll
Chris Cashion and his rather special GoS Skadi - Monochrome Watches
Each member of the MONOCHROME team has their favourites among the many brands and watches we share with you all. One of the brands I have been following closely since I joined MONOCHROME is the Swedish brand Gustafsson & Sjogren, or GoS in short. The duo of Patrik Sjogren and Johan Gustafsson offers very unique watches incorporating hand-forged Damascus steel for the cases, bezels, crowns, dials and more. So when the opportunity to chat with the owner of a very special 1-of-5 GoS Skadi popped up, I just had to follow through.Just as a reminder, as we've covered the watch about a year ago, the GoS Skadi is somewhat of a direct result of the collaboration between GoS and Singer Reimagined Track 1 for OnlyWatch 2019. That specific collab piece was the first time GoS presented a watch with a case in blackened Damascus steel. The Skadi is the first GoS watch to offer a similar styled blackened Damascus steel case as the collab piece. It is combined with the
Review Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 40mm White Gold
The Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921, a unique cushion-shaped model with a diagonal display, celebrates its centennial in 2021. One of our favourite models at MONOCHROME, the Historiques American 1921 has a great story behind it and has not lost an iota of its idiosyncratic personality in the past 100 years. Three new iterations of the American 1921 were unveiled during the latest edition of Watches & Wonders – two in 18k white gold and a third in platinum. Today we'll be taking our loupe to the 40mm white gold edition and discover its indisputable and enduring Art Deco appeal. The exhilarating 1920sThe aftermath of WWI heralded a decade of optimism and excess known as the Roaring Twenties. Characterised as a decade of emancipation with flappers dancing the Charleston and jazz music bursting on the scene, it also marked the advent of Art Deco, a style that graced everything from skyscrapers to furniture and from jewellery to watches. Sleek curves, geometric shapes
