Girard-Perregaux Traveller Large Date, Moonphase & GMT now with sapphire dial (Live Photos, specs and price) - Monochrome-Watches
Showing the movement has become the rule in watchmaking. Whether it’s a superbly finished haute horology or a simple entry-level engine, brands are now manufacturing the majority of their watches with a sapphire caseback – meaning having a view on the back of its movement. Although?some?3-hand watches have almost nothing to show on the dial-side of the movement, more complicated timepieces that can be proudly exposed from every angle. The evolution is purely visual, with some new decorations and the introduction of this see-through dial. As said, if a 3-hand watch

Hands-On - TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Chronograph 2018 Version (Specs & Price)
The Carrera turns 55 this year and TAG Heuer revisits its famous automotive chronograph with two models emblazoned with colours inspired by the world of auto racing. Available in a 41mm steel case with a vibrant blue or black dial and the distinctive 12-6-9 layout of the counters, the entry-level TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 captures the racing spirit of the classic Carrera with a youthful splash of colour and a dose of vintage. Smaller in size than its 43mm predecessors, the Carrera Calibre 16 duo have dispensed with the day window and substituted the prominent numerals on the dial with hour markers treated with faux-aged beige lume.A racing legendIf there is one watch everybody associates with auto racing, it is the Heuer Carrera. Named after the Carrera Panamericana - a gruelling and dangerous 3,000 km race along the Mexican portion of the Pan-American Highway - the Carrera has been a cornerstone of the brand since 1963. Designed by Jack Heuer, who inherited his great-grandfather's
Pre-Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Chronograph Quantieme Annuel (hands-on review with live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
It has to be said: the celerity at which Montblanc has enlarged and developed?the Heritage Chronometrie collection is impressive. In less than 2 years, we’ve seen a Dual Time, a Quantieme Complet, an Ultra-Slim, a Quantieme Annuel and even an affordable (relatively speaking) Tourbillon Chronograph. And what has to be kept in mind is that, even if Montblanc uses third-parties base movements, the complication modules are all done in-house. Now you’ll probably ask yourself when they going to stop? Not this year, as here is the new?Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Chronograph Quantieme Annuel, to be introduced at the SIHH 2016.The?Heritage Chronometrie is the core collection of Montblanc, with classically shaped watches and a goal to have complicated displays, but for accessible prices. The goal here isn’t to be ultra-high-end – this goes to the Villeret Collection, with watches like the Montblanc Tourbillon Cylindrique Geospheres?– neither to be quite original
Interview - Talking to Alessandro Ficarelli of Panerai
When I received the invitation to join Panerai for a rather special experience in the south of Italy a couple of months ago, I didn’t think much of it. I expected to have just another well-organised hands-on experience with a luxury watch company and enjoy my time on the Mediterranean coast. But once I received the program for the two days in and around Brindisi, followed by an 8-week training regime, I understood this was more than just some days of fun in the sun. This was, in fact, an all-in Forze Speciali Experience with the Brigata San Marco in Brindisi, Italy. During this event, we were engulfed in full-on tactical combat training by the legendary Marina Militare, the Italian Navy with strong historical ties to Panerai. A unique experience for sure, and one that followed be endured by up to 50 Panerai clients who bought the Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali Experience PAM01238. It also presented a perfect opportunity to sit down and chat with Allessandro Ficarelli, Chief M
