Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic Satin-Polished // Introducing
No watch enthusiast can overlook Bvlgari’s hegemony of the ultra-thin category. The formula is simple: 5 stunning watches, 5 world records, 1 great design. Not only is the Octo Finissimo a demonstration of mechanical savoir-faire but it is also a treaty of modern design. Until now, the “simplest” of the watches in this collection, the Automatic model, has been available in titanium, stainless steel and rose gold, all with a sandblasted finish. Now, the brand adds a luxurious touch with the new Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Automatic Satin-Polished Collection. With these new models in the ever-growing (and always surprising) Octo Finissimo collection, don’t expect multiple design or mechanical changes. The ingredients are still the same: the same angular case; the same ultra-flat luxury sports watch concept; the same paper-thin automatic movement; and the same bracelet/strap. Whereas most brands introduce new dial colours to spruce up an existing? model, Bvlgari refreshe
Introducing: The new Habring2 Oskar, The Felix with a MoonPhase
Following our article about the new Josef Regulator With Dead-Beat Seconds, it’s time now to introduce the second watch released by Habring2 in the frame of the brand’s 20th-anniversary celebrations. Founded in 2004 by couple Maria and Richard Habring, Habring2 is one of the very few watchmakers to operate in Austria and, over the years, it has managed to manufacture highly appealing hand-made, in-house developed watches. The latest in line is an elegant, slightly retro-styled watch that takes the concept of Felix one step further. Meet the Habring2 Oskar with moon phase display and with or without pointer date.?The new Oskar is largely based on the Felix model, a watch of high importance in the brand’s portfolio, as it heralded the era of Habring2’s own manufactory movements. For the first 10 years of its existence, the brand relied on ETA ebauches, heavily modified to meet the brand’s requirements in terms of complications. In 2014, with Felix, Habring2
Interview - Marc Aellen, CEO of Certina, On 2021 Models & Market Forcast
Founded by the Kurth brothers in 1888, Certina can look back on a rich history. Today Certina is a part of the mid-range brands of Swatch Group, which is also the entry-level to mechanical watches. Certina is catalogued in the Sports watch section, with a slight vintage flair. During the presentation of the brand's 2021 novelties in Geneva, we spent some time with the CEO of Certina Watches, Marc Aellen, to talk about the recent evolution of the brand, the growing demand for mechanical models, the impact of the pandemic, the future of the brand and of course the new watches that have been recently presented.Marc Aellen, CEO of Certina WatchesXavier Markl, MONOCHROME – Marc, how did you get into watches?Marc Aellen, Certina – My father was a watch designer in the Neuchatel region. When he passed away in 1998, I was still too young to take over his business. Naturally, growing up in the area, you get to learn and love watches. After I graduated in business administration, I h
Christophe Claret presents the X-TREM-1 Pinball - Monochrome Watches
Another timepiece for the Only Watch auction is a unique approach to the X-TREM-1 that Christophe Claret introduced last year. Of course we shared that brilliant timepiece with you (click here) because it was the very first timepiece to indicate time by means of magnetism! Yes indeed, magnetism usually is something you’d like to avoid in or around your mechanical watch, however Christophe Claret found a way to use moving magnets and round metal balls to indicate the time.?Besides the magnetism, the X-TREM-1 also features a tourbillon, that is mounted at a 30 degree angle. At that angle the tourbillon is simply more visible to the person wearing the watch and visual effects are key in a timepiece like the X-TREM-1. The folks over at Christophe Claret will mind the technical aspects and they are good at that. The new X-TREM-1 Pinball resembles the inside of a pinball machine, with bumpers, slingshots, balls and even a TILT button! Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Collection 2018 (Specs & Price)
When Jerome Lambert took over Montblanc, the idea was simple: offer a lot of product for less money. This didn’t mean that all the watches had to be affordable, but rather that watches – including ones with solid horological credentials – were lower priced than expected. This gave birth to a Sub-10k Perpetual Calendar, the?4810 ExoTourbillon Slim or a Sub-7k annual calendar. Following the same idea, Montblanc introduces three new watches in the?Heritage Chronometrie collection, still complex but with new, contemporary design codes. All three watches – the?Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Perpetual Calendar Sapphire, the?Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Exo Tourbillon Slim Openworked and the?Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Exo Tourbillon Slim – share the same concept: a new, refined and slim 40mm case,?redesigned dials with contemporary aesthetics and a new colour scheme as well as openworked movements with graphic, 3-dimensional?construction and sapphire crys
