GPHG 2017 Finalists Announced - With Analysis and Predictions
As we approach the end of each year, the GPHG (Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve) ceremony takes place in Geneva. The so-called Oscars of the Watchmaking Industry, the gala event celebrates the best watches of the year – the most advanced, the most innovative, and the most creative timepieces – as well as the outright best in show, the Aiguille d’Or. Today we’re able to bring you, hot off the press, the complete list of finalists selected by the Jury. Review - Piaget Polo S Chronograph Steel (Specs & Price)
When the Piaget Polo S Chronograph (and time-and-date too) was unveiled last year in New York, the response was divisive to say the least. Many thought it paid too close a homage to certain other iconic steel sports watches, whilst others welcomed this bold move by Piaget to offer some more accessible models. Now, more than a year on, the dust has settled a bit and (presumably) emotions aren't running quite so high, which makes it the perfect time for a hands-on review of the Piaget Polo S Chronograph in steel.I must admit, when I first saw the press photos of the Polo S and the Polo S Chronograph last year, I was not particularly impressed. First Look: Summer Colours for the Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton
Rado is synonymous with high-tech ceramic, which is used to great effect on its sleek, geometric designs and vintage models alike. Rado's 1962 Captain Cook dive watch, resurrected in 2017, was given a high-tech plasma ceramic makeover in 2021. Not only did it feature a ceramic case and bracelet, but its dial was also skeletonised to reveal the movement. In this same vein, Rado releases a duet of Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton?models with vibrant coloured bezels for some fun in the sun. The new Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton models come in 43mm navy blue ceramic cases with a height of 14.6mm, a ceramic screw-down crown and 300m water-resistance.
