Introducing the Glashutte Original Senator Chronograph Panorama Date with the New In-House Calibre 37 - (LIVE photos & Pricing) - Monochrome Watches
Chronographs are certainly the most common complication in the watch industry, going from affordable luxury segment, such as Longines, to rugged toolwatches such as the Graham Chronofighter that we reviewed a few weeks ago or even highly complicated Haute Horlogerie timepieces like the new De Bethune DB27 Maxichrono. And to think of it, a mechanical chronograph is actually one of the most difficult complications! Yet, chronographs can be found in every segment, and in every style, even in the dress/classic style like Montblanc’s Heritage Pulsograph. At Baselworld 2014, Glashutte Original introduced an interesting chronograph in the dress/classic segment: meet the new Senator Chronograph Panorama Date. The new in-house Calibre 37Besides introducing the new Glashutte-Original Senator Chronograph PanoDate, we’re also introducing GO’s new in-house chronograph movement calibre 37-01. This movement is entirely designed, developed and manufactured in-house in Glashutte, Germ
2020 Ulysse Nardin Dual Time 42mm (Specs & Price)
Recently, Ulysse Nardin has demonstrated its boldness by designing ultra-modern watches with architectural openworked movements or complex displays. The brand is also about complications and, ironically, the simplification of these complications. One should keep in mind the work undertaken by the brand with Dr Ludwig Oechslin to simplify its perpetual calendar. In the same vein, one of the most emblematic displays by UN is the dual time and today this watch gets a complete overhaul. Meet the fully reshaped Ulysse Nardin Dual Time 42mm.Making complex things simple was Oechslin’s philosophy regarding watchmaking during his days at Ulysse Nardin. He was the creative genius behind the Freak, the Trilogy of Time collection (a trio of watches named Astrolabium Galileo Galilei, Planetarium Copernicus and Tellurium Johannes Kepler), and of course, the Perpetual Calendar he created for the brand in 1996 to celebrate its 150th anniversary. But prior to that, in 1994, another watch made som
TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Mario Kart Limited Editions - Hands-On, Price
TAG Heuer watches, and specifically the Formula 1 collection (obviously, with such a name), are all about racing and motorsports – the sport most associated with the brand. And yes, they often are relatively serious, or at least very focused on real-world automobiles. But what about keeping the racing spirit alive and sending it to a different universe, something about fun and playful inspirations? Something that will speak to a nostalgic (or not) audience? Something about one of the most emblematic characters and video games of the last 30 years? Yes, TAG Heuer is back with Mario Kart and brings two watches that are at the same time serious, unprecedented and very fun indeed. Like it or not…This pair of Formula 1 limited editions marks the second instalment in the TAG Heuer x Mario Kart story, following last year’s TAG Heuer Connected model, which became a hit in stores and a must-have for true Mario Kart aficionados (and there are a lot of them). Now, the chips and
Editorial: Why Boldness Matters by Virtue Of The Tudor Black Bay Chronograph Flamingo Blue
Let me state something that I know will spark some people; as a watch-loving community, we’ve become far too negative in our opinions. Especially when it comes to social media, it’s easy to discard something you don’t like or even ridicule or bash. It’s a fairly common thing to express one’s (negative) opinion in such a way and state it as factual instead of opening up to discussions. And that’s a bad thing. Live and let live, or agree to disagree seems to be a dwindling character trait. Case in point: expressiveness in watches. Call it boldness, creativity or audacity; it’s often met with very negative fanfare, and I don’t get that. So I thought, why not sample a watch that’s quite in-your-face colourful and make a case for opening up to expressiveness from now on! , the King of conservatism? It’s often said that some brands employ an “evolution over revolution” strategy, where watches are fine-tuned rather than co
