¡®Come fly with us - Flying with IWC on-board JU-52 with the new IWC Pilot's Watches - Monochrome Watches
When IWC offer you the opportunity to fly on-board their Junkers JU-52 aircraft, you take it. This trip was to coincide with the launch of the new pilots range, which we covered here and here. As you would expect, it is far from just any aircraft. For many years, the Schaffhausen based manufacturer have nurtured a partnership with Swiss airline?JU-AIR?through their mutual admiration of the Junkers JU-52 aircraft. It is fair to say, this aircraft has a fairly significant story to tell in aviation history. It was brisk Monday afternoon at the Air force Center Dubendorf (near Zurich). 10 or so international press gathered to share this unique experience with me. There were representatives from Germany, Denmark and Portugal. My heart started to beat just a little faster when I witnessed the pilot starting the aircraft manually, by rotating a wooden wheel at the base of his chair. This was followed by an engine test' of 5 or so minutes to ensure they were operating correctly. Before getting
IWC Mark XII Saab Limited Edition on the Day that Saab Starts Production Again - Monochrome Watches
When I wrote about the IWC Mark XII Saab ‘Mellow Yellow’ a few years ago, nobody could have suspected that Saab would start up production again. Well, today they started up production in the Saab factories in Trollh?ttan, Sweden. As an avid Saab driver, this makes a perfectly good reason to celebrate this with my own IWC Mark XII Saab.As an avid Saab driver – I’ve owned quite a few 900 classics and several 9-3’s – I couldn’t resist when I saw a used IWC Mark XII Saab for sale, earlier this year. I had actually been looking for one for several years, but as these things go, available budget and a good one, complete with all boxes and papers, for sale, somehow never “aligned”. As I previously wrote, that watch could well become the only Saab that holds its value and when looking at today’s market prices it looks like my prediction is still correct. Hands-on - Omega Speedmaster CK2998 Limited Edition at Baselworld 2016 - Could it be one of the coolest modern Speedies? (live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
The Omega Speedmaster is a watch that needs no introduction. It’s an icon, most certainly one of the two most iconic chronographs and, considering its superb pedigree, one of the most iconic watches ever. Among all the editions and versions that Omega created since 1957, some are grails, like for instance the first one, the CK2915. Following it was the CK2998 – explained?here – which happened to be the first Omega in Space, before landing on the Moon. It is this exact watch that inspired the FOIS edition and, at this year’s edition of Baselworld, the new?Omega Speedmaster CK2998 Limited Edition. And it could well be one of the?coolest modern Speedies. Let’s see why. It’s cool because it’s a SpeedmasterBeing named?Speedmaster is like being named Porsche. In the heart of collectors, this name sounds like a must-have, with a great history, present and (most certainly) future. This watch is, as we just said, an icon. Why? First, it exists (without d
Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Travel Time 5326G
In recent years, Patek Philippe has injected a certain vintage vibe into some of its creations, such as the attractive perpetual calendar 5320G (which has just been released in a new salmon version). Following this rather pleasing trend, the brand has presented a new watch at Watches and Wonders that combines an annual calendar and a traveller’s function with a warm vintage design. Meet the new highly practical Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Travel Time 5326G.?Apart from the obvious design language of this watch, the 5326G also marks the first time the Annual Calendar is mixed with the Travel Time display – the two being signature complications of the brand –? resulting in a practical everyday companion. Live from SIHH 2019 - Jean-Marc Pontroue of Panerai - Monochrome Watches
In our latest video coverage of SIHH 2019, Jean-Marc Pontroue of Panerai explains why the Submersible has become a stand-alone line and why offering experiences' to owners of new Submersible watches is the way forward for the brand. It's the year of the Submersible watch at Panerai. Having long been a successful sub-segment of the Luminor collection, the Submersible is now stepping out as an individual collection. Still sharing many traits of the Luminor, the Submersible family will be the recipient of high-tech, innovative materials developed in Panerai's Laboratorio di Idee and will also bring something new to the mix in the form of experiences.Common traits shared by all the new Submersible watches are water-resistance to 300m, the classic crown protector bridge of the Luminor on the right side of the case, a power reserve of 3 days/72 hours, superlative luminescence, new colours for the dials and indices, and lots of Carbotech –?an innovative composite carbon fibre material
