IN DEPTH: The Omega Flightmaster - The Special One - Monochrome Watches
The recent announcement of the revamped Speedmaster MkII from Omega seems to highlight a return to the company's glorious past- and rightly so, in my honest opinion, since Omega has a large number of design gems in its vaults. However, it was the introduction of the Z-33 spacemaster that made me want to dig some more and present to you the highly radical Flightmaster, a watch that, when it was introduced in 1969, was considered way ahead of its time. Maybe it still is….The 1960’s undoubtedly were hugely important for the Swiss watch industry; this was a memorable decade for chronographs and the other “tool” watches. The watch became the symbol of the adventurous human spirit, being worn by drivers and their crews when they went racing; by pilots as they broke speed and altitude records; by international travelers as they crossed the time zones of the world; by divers doing underwater exploration; by the adventurers as they climbed the tallest peaks. Thoughts about the Greubel Forsey Signature 1, the "entry-level" proposition (Review with live photos & price) - Monochrome Watches
It has to be said: the 2016 edition of the SIHH showed a focus on more accessible watches and the renewal of icons (IWC Big Pilot, Vacheron Constantin Overseas or JLC Reverso, among others). In the middle of the industry’s heavyweights, Greubel Forsey also had to slightly change its strategy, by offering something less technical, less complicated, maybe more useable on a daily basis, and mainly, more affordable. After their cheapest Tourbillon in 2015, the?Greubel Forsey Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision, it’s now time for their cheapest watch ever (well, relatively speaking), and this time without a tourbillon – and it even comes in a stainless steel?case!?The idea of a time-only and reasonable watch by Greubel Forsey was interesting. However, we now have to find out if the?Greubel Forsey Signature 1 does the job.The Greubel Forsey Signature 1: a technically simple watchYou see, the main purpose, the essence, the raison d’¨ºtre of a Greubel Forsey watch has always b
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin 1907 - Reviewed (Live Photos, Specs and Price) - Monochrome Watches
We do get our share of impressive timepieces to wear, however a watch that is, or is almost, the thinnest watch in the world, still impresses. Hugely! That’s what the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin 1907, that was introduced earlier this year during the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva. Thin as a razor, superbly legible and very stylish. We’ve reviewed this 4,05 mm thick (or thin) watch for you.Beforehand we wondered how it would feel on the wrist. With just over 4 mm in height it could well be fragile and maybe even “scary” thin to wear. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin 1907 is the second iteration of this ultra-thin timepiece from the Grande Maison of the Vallee de Joux. The first version, executed in platinum, was introduced as part of the 180 years Jubilee Collection that Jaeger-LeCoultre launched as tribute to Antoine LeCoultre in 2013. The new Master Ultra Thin 1907 comes in a 39mm pink gold case that is just 4,05mm thick.
