Introducing: A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar Platinum & Black Dial
During its initial release of the Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar in 2021, A. Lange & Sohne presented two versions: a pink-gold model with a dark grey dial and a quickly sold-out limited edition of 150 pieces in white gold with a solid pink-gold (often referred to as salmon) dial. This year, the renowned Saxon watchmaker is unveiling a Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar model featuring a black dial, and housed in a luxurious platinum case. Let's take a look.In comparison to its earlier counterparts, the alterations are purely aesthetic. The familiar Lange 1 case maintains its dimensions, measuring 41.9mm in diameter and 12.1mm in height, which may seem substantial and weighty but is consistent with most intricate Lange timepieces. The black dial of this platinum edition watch is crafted from solid silver, with the moon phase indicator and its solid-gold celestial disc with graduated blue hues commanding attention as the brightest element against a predominantly black backdrop adorned with white
New Editions of the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute
The Laureato luxury sports watch was introduced by Girard-Perregaux in 1975 and tentatively revived in 2016 as a limited edition before becoming a full-fledged collection in 2017. Within the Laureato family is the burlier, sportier Laureato Absolute sub-collection, the brand's playground for innovative materials and bolder 44mm cases. The two new models joining the Laureato Absolute line-up are housed in transparent metallised sapphire crystal cases to reveal their skeletonised in-house movements. One of the models is picked out in a red translucent case to mark the upcoming Chinese New Year (22 January 2023).LaureatoThe Laureato is Girard-Perregaux’s take on the luxury sports watch and made its first appearance in 1975, just three years after Audemars Piguet launched the groundbreaking Royal Oak. With its raised octagonal bezel, sleek lines, hobnail engraved dial and integrated bracelet, the only downside of the first Laureato was that it was powered by a slim, ultra-precise qua
Video The IWC Big Pilot 43 Racing Green IW329306
For almost 20 years, the name Big Pilot at IWC meant one thing: a 46mm, oversized, almost provocative watch inspired by 1940s B-Uhr, powered by a massive automatic movement with a 7-day power reserve and a dial so large that you could use the watch as a nightstand clock And it also meant a display with a power reserve indicator and date. But things changed in 2021 with the launch of the Big Pilot 43 watch. It was smaller, sleeker, less complex mechanically and more mainstream. This not-so-big Big Pilot is now available with a striking racing green dial, and we take a closer look at it now in our latest video review.?If the real Big Pilot, the oversized 46mm watch, is still IWC’s flagship pilot watch, the recent introduction of the BP 43 somewhat redistributed the cards. This slightly more compact, more straightforward and focused version is fast becoming the cornerstone of the collection, with many variations around the concept. This launch raised a few questions, mainly about th
Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Tourbillon Slate (Specs & Price)
Benefiting from the digital version of Watches & Wonders 2020, Parmigiani Fleurier has just presented the Toric Tourbillon Slate with a flying tourbillon at 7 o'clock, framed by a beautifully decorated dial and case. A hybrid of sorts, the Toric Tourbillon Slate appropriates the shell of the Toric watch family but is powered by its in-house, ultra-slim automatic flying tourbillon with micro-rotor, first seen inside the Tonda 1950 Tourbillon five years ago. Let’s take a closer look at this new and elegant piece.Degrees of thinAlthough Parmigiani does not openly engage in the ongoing battle to produce the thinnest watches on the market today, it is a worthy contender in the line-up of ultra-thin flying tourbillons. The first appearance of Parmigiani's Automatic Flying Tourbillon was in 2015 inside an elegant 1950 Tonda case. This particular Tonda model took home the title of the thinnest automatic flying tourbillon with micro-rotor' powered by a movement just 3.4mm thick. The n
