Baselworld - Hublot Classic Fusion Extra¨CThin Skeleton - Monochrome Watches
Something completely new from Hublot: an extra-thin skeleton watch. Hublot created a model in the Classic Fusion collection by adding a skeletonized dial and a brand new in-house extra-thin movement.?At Monochrome we already asked ourselves if Piaget was going to set a trend and judging on the recent developments, like the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak?Openworked Extra-Thin, we guess guess they did. Although the new Hublot Classic Fusion Extra-Thin Skeleton and?fore-mentioned?AP RO don’t have fully PVD coated movement, they are extra-thin and skeletonized. Ad - Scroll to continue with article The new Hublot caliber?HUB1300 is 2.90 mm thick, which is 0.20 mm thicker than?Piaget’s caliber 838P. Both calibers are skeletonized and hand-wound. Although the difference in thickness of the movement is minimal, Hublot’s case seems much thicker. The movement
Chopard L.U.C Quattro - Pre-Baselworld 2018 (Specs & Price)
Chopard should not be forgotten when the subject of Haute Horlogerie comes on the table, especially with the L.U.C collection – launched in 1996 and representing?the brand's top line. The Chopard L.U.C collection comprises watches with beautifully hand-finished?in-house movements. The first movement they launched in this collection was calibre 1.96.?Four years later, in the year 2000, Chopard introduced the first L.U.C Quattro, the world's first hand-wound calibre with four stacked mainspring barrels. Just before Baselworld 2018, here is a new interpretation of the?Chopard L.U.C Quattro. The L.U.C Quattro is one of the major watches in the L.U.C collection. But not the only one. Indeed, when the Scheufele family decided to relaunch the L.U.C Collection in 1996, they made it with not only a great looking watch but also with a superb movement, the calibre?1.96. This movement featured a bidirectional 22ct-gold micro-rotor and twin stacked barrels giving 65 hours of power reserve, but
Squale 2002 - full Monochrome Watches
Tool watches, especially divers, have a diverse and loyal following. Some models have become absolute legends of the watchworld, such as the Submariner or the Omega Seamaster. The small Swiss brand Squale may not ring as many bells as these two, but they can be considered an important historical innovator in their field of expertise. Monochrome has covered the brand before but now we've worn the Squale 2002 quite extensively and we deliver the thorough review of this historically inspired diver's watch.HistoryAs most watch aficionados know, people rarely take dive watches to the limits that they were built to withstand. Apart from professional divers, whose very lives can depend upon the functions of their dive watches (and whose photos are often featured in Squale advertisements), it would be hard to think of anyone who has taken a diver's watch beyond the aquatic depths of their local (or private!) swimming pool or nearby beach. The Collector's Series - Gavin Foo and his more-than-special Cabestan Luna Nera - Monochrome-Watches
He's a father, part of the Deployant.com team and collector. An interesting fact about Gavin Foo (that he happened to mention before our interview), is that despite his best efforts, he still can't seem to complete level 53 of Metal Gear Solid V Good to know Oh, and in his collection, he happens to own the mind-blowingly cool Cabestan Luna Nera.So for those of you new to Cabestan let's start from the beginning. It is an independent Swiss watch manufacture nestled in the heart of the Jura Mountains, in the cradle of watchmaking, the Vallee de Joux. Since 2003, Cabestan have been developing stunning timepieces with a focus on their vertical oriented movement. The Luna Nera was created in 2013 and is limited to a series of 135 timepieces. It is the result of Eric Coudray's (master-watchmaker) imagination. He has managed to achieve what very few watchmakers have ever been able to achieve. He has combined by the vertical capstan wheels, chain and fuse, with a glorious moon phase in 3-dimensi
Time to say goodbye - Monochrome Watches
Since my passion for watches began, the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso has always been one of my favorites. Even during times when I was wearing watches with the average size of 44mm (like the Panerai PAM00001 ?I owned), I still considered it as very desirable. And I still do…To explain the title of this story I have to go back to a week in september of last year (2008), when visited New York City.?One of the things on my to-do list was to visit?Wempe near Central Park. My goal? To try a Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso and possibly buy it. The dollar-euro ratio was still excellent, which was a big advantage for anyone from Europe. The sales person (excellent service by the way!!) suggested I&
