Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Automatic Tadao Ando Black Ceramic hands-on
Time has many faces. Acclaimed Japanese architect Tadao Ando envisions time as a spiral that winds in a continuous and gradually widening curve around a central point. In his first collaboration with Bvlgari in 2019, Ando represented the inexorable passing of time with a mesmerising spiral engraved on the dial of the Octo Finissimo Automatic emanating from the off-centred seconds hand. In line with the dial’s stark minimalism, there were no hour markers, numerals or logos on the first Octo Finissimo collaboration piece.? Bearing the same technical specifications and case design of the record-breaking Octo Finissimo Automatic, this year, Ando has created a dial inspired by Mikazuki, the Japanese term for a crescent moon, or the moon on the third day of the lunar month'.Tadao AndoJapanese architect Tadao Ando (Osaka, 1941) is revered as a national treasure in Japan. Renowned for his minimalist concrete structures, Ando infuses his architecture with Japanese cultural and religious i

This is it… This is the big one. The watch that the entire collecting community was expecting to see surfacing one day has gone under the hammer. This watch, as auctioneer Aurel Bacs explained to us in this video interview, is not only a celebrity’s watch; it represents much more than that. It’s the very?watch that created an icon (the Paul Newman Daytona), the very watch that is, in fact, the reason why collecting steel sports watches is now so popular. Well, it’s official, Paul Newman’s Paul Newman Daytona has been sold just a few minutes ago, for a record price of over $17.7 Million, making it the most expensive wristwatch ever auctioned (and that’s with buyer’s premium). As a reminder (all prices including buyer’s fees) $3,717,906 – The most expensive Daytona ever auctioned – the?Oyster Paul Newman “The Legend” In Gold with Lemon dial, sold by Phillips at “Geneva Watch Auction: Five” on May 14th, 2
Introducing The Corum Bubble 47 Central Tourbillon by Label Noir
The Bubble, brought to us by an extraordinary visionnaire and talented businessman, former Corum owner Severin Wunderman almost a quarter century ago, rarely ceased to amaze and kept us interested all these years. The Corum Bubble is still one of today’s most recognisable watch designs, satisfying the thirst for the exceptional. It is hard to find another watch in the luxury segment that offered its dial to serve creative expression in such an exclusive manner and even thought to magnify the artistic effect by mounting a “loupe” of sapphire glass for our viewing pleasure. Check out the limited Bubble editions launched by Corum in partnership with artists and studios such as Label Noir, and dive deep and admire extraordinary dial designs from the company’s studio. However, Corum is, first and foremost, a watch manufacture famous for its mechanical prowess. Anyone in doubt, we invite you to review the Golden Bridge collection, created with a bit of help from watchm

Today,?Salanitro SA?has just announced that Patek Philippe has acquired a stake in its capital. The amount of the investment and the size of the stake were not disclosed. This entry into the capital of the gem-setting company materializes the coming together of two independent Geneva-based family businesses. If Patek Philippe requires little introduction, Salanitro SA is an institution in the Swiss watch industry, being the most prominent player in the jewellery and gem-setting activities for Swiss Haute Horlogerie. Founded in 1990, Salanitro SA counts no fewer than 230 employees. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Pierre Salanitro, founder and owner of Salanitro SAThe operation is obviously an opportunity to strengthen the ties between the two companies. For Salanitro SA, it is also a way to secure the company's future with the backup of Patek Philippe, all t
Ma?tres du Temps - Chapter Two - Monochrome Watches
During Baselworld i had a meeting with Ma?tres du Temps. After a warm welcome, Margaret Pane (vice president of Ma?tres du Temps) showed us the movie that was made for Chapter Two. I can really recommend watching this movie (around 10 minutes) as it really captures the essence of this collaboration of the greatest minds of modern watchmaking. The movie has some details that the connaisseur will immediately understand. Like the hands of the church clock, these remind me of the hands of the Speake-Marin Picadilly. After having seen the movie mr. Steven Holzman, the founder and CEO of Ma?tres du Temps, showed us the new masterpiece, Chapter Two. The three master watchmakers who are responsable for Chapter Two are mr. Daniel Roth, mr. Peter Speake-Marin and mr. Roger Dubuis. Chapter Two has an 18K red gold case of 42mm wide, 58mm from lug to lug and is 18mm thick. It features 6 different sapphire crystals with anti reflection coating, three positioned at the front to display the main dial,
