Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono // Hands-On Review, Specs & Price
Independent, family-run Swiss watch brand Norqain was founded just two years ago by Ben Kuffer and is taking surprisingly confident strides. With three collections to date, Norqain designs everything in-house and is set to obtain greater manufacturing independence with its recently sealed deal with movement manufacturer Kenissi. The Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono we are looking at today has a strong 1960s vintage vibe and enough personality to stand out from the crowd.CaseThe mushroom-type or piston pushers and raised crystal underscore the retro mood of this watch although the case size, at 43mm in diameter and with a case height of 15mm, is most definitely a contemporary choice. The solid 316L stainless steel case is finished with polished surfaces on the relatively thin, sloping bezel and the tops of the lugs and features vertical brushed finishes on the case side. Like all watches at Norqain, there is a polished plaque on the left side of the case that can be engraved to personalise the
Habring2 Doppel 3 Reviewed - Monochrome Watches
Today we’re going to review a very special watch. It is a double chronograph, with a single-pusher chronograph function and an additional pusher for the split-seconds function. This alone sounds interesting, however if you consider that the watch is made by Habring2, and also consider that Richard Habring played a major role in developing IWC’s Doppelchrono, the importance of the Habring2 Doppel 3 might become evident. It was evident enough for the jury of the prestigious Grand Prix de Horlogerie de Geneve, to award its predecessor with the Sports Watch Prize in 2012. The Doppel 3 is an evolution of the Doppel 2, which won the sports watch prize at the 2012 GPHG. While the Doppel 2 was operated by three pushers – two for the chronograph and one for the split seconds function – the Doppel 3 takes it a step further. It is actually a single-pusher (or mono poussoir in French) chronograph with two central chronograph second hands. One of the hands is to measure an e

The watch collector - a strange breed of people? - Monochrome Watches
Monochrome’s contributor Dr. Watch shares his personal ideas about the strange breed called watch aficionados. Be prepared and join the discussion!A few years ago, quite a lot actually, Nike launched an intriguing campaign featuring a picture of an unattractive man who was clearly more worried about sports results than fashion. The tagline was something like “Runners are freaks; they don’t act like normal people, they don’t dress like normal people”. I won’t bother anyone with the dressing habits of the average watch fan, but when it comes to ‘not acting like normal people’, watch freaks are just as uhmmm freaky as the average runner. Who does not know the Luminor and Radiomir watches, amongst others, used by commando frogmen? The company is part of the Richemont Group since 1997
