In-Depth: Angelus Instrument de Vitesse and the Pedigree of its Monopusher Movement
For watch enthusiasts like me and the rest of the team of MONO, the name Angelus is synonymous with splendid vintage chronographs. Yet, the modern side of the brand, which is under the umbrella of La Joux-Perret (and thus Citizen), was until recently fairly different. The resurrection of the brand in 2015, which was done alongside its sister brand Arnold & Son, gave birth to highly technical or contemporary-designed watches… Not entirely what we could have expected. But things have changed in the past couple of years, with the launch of the La Fabrique collection. Following the Massena LAB Chronographe Medical, Angelus recently treated us with a stunning vintage-inspired monopusher chronograph, full of charm and nostalgia, the Instrument de Vitesse. Time for us to take a closer look at this lovely watch, but also to talk about its movement… And there’s a lot to tell here.?Angelus is a name with great history and important watches. Founded in 1891 by brothers Alber
Hanhart Pioneer Monocontrol - The epitome of Coolness - Full Review (history, live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
One of the most enduring traits in the watch industry in recent years is the New-retro design. This principle is the tendency to create something new that is not exactly new but rather follows the past. This industrial/marketing strategy balances in most cases innovation and tradition. The historical heritage of a product is fused with new materials and modern construction in order to create something desirable which possess a different aura, perhaps more refined and romantic. As everything in life, this strategy has its pros and cons while we can often witness companies trying to create a product of this kind out of thin air. In our case we will review a very important military chronograph with unmistakable originality. Almost every watch company today has an offering of a pilot’s chronograph. However, few designs have the pedigree of the one we will review. Hanhart is a company that still produces its iconic flieger chronographs with modern materials and calibres, thus potentia
The Chronograph 1 joins the regular collection with small updates
The year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of a very important watch. Presented way back in 1972, the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 was the very first commercially available black-coated watch, and the very first product by Porsche Design as a newly founded company. Headed by Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche, Porsche Design started with and has always evolved around watches. For the majority of times, this was through collaborations with companies such as Orfina and IWC. Yet, as we've explained on numerous occasions, the time has moved on and Porsche Design now produces watches in-house. But the most important thing is the Chronograph 1 is still very much alive, and now moves into the regular collection with the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 All Black Numbered Edition.Earlier this year, Porsche Design launched the Chronograph 1 - 1972 Limited Edition, with the entire production run of 500 watches long sold out. Now though, the Chronograph 1 becomes part of the regular collec
The New Rose Gold and Titanium Hermes H08
Unveiled in 2021, the Hermes H08 is the French brand's versatile sporty-chic watch with a smooth cushion-shaped case and contemporary design elements. By juxtaposing different shapes (typical Hermes) and playing with different finishings and textures, the Hermes H08 reveals its fluid, sensual architecture. Previously offered in titanium and black graphene cases, the latest H08 ups the luxury factor with its sleek two-tone rose gold and black DLC-treated titanium case. Hermes, originally a saddle and harness atelier founded by Thierry Hermes in 1837, has become one of France's iconic luxury Maisons. Rather than pursue a conservative, conventional approach to luxury, Hermes has cultivated a unique design ethos for all its product lines that gives the Maison its distinctive personality. From silk scarves to Kelly bags and porcelain dinner sets, you can always feel the hand of the designer behind its beautiful creations. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Introducing: The White Edition of the accessible Tissot Heritage 1938 COSC
Released last year, the Tissot Heritage 1938 COSC is a watch that’s hard to not objectively find brilliant. Combining a nice retro design with modern specs and a truly fair price, it even comes equipped with a chronometer-certified movement – making it one of the most accessible Swiss chronometers on the market. This handsome, affordable vintage-styled watch was already available in two appealing editions – salmon and black-gilt – but Tissot now adds a third version to the collection, with a fresh, classic silvery-white dial and blue accents.?Before we take a closer look at this new edition of the Heritage 1938 COSC, let’s quickly come back to the topic of the chronometer. A chronometer, not to be confused with a chronograph, is a watch that has been officially tested for its precision by an independent and vetted institute. Multiple organisations have the authority to certify movements and watches, the most famous of them all being the COSC or Contr?le Of
