2021 New Blue Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar
With almost 50 years of existence, the Royal Oak has become more than just a cult watch. It has evolved into an entire collection, built around an iconic design, and showcasing most of Audemars Piguet‘s watchmaking savoir-faire. One of the most emblematic complications of AP is, without a doubt, the perpetual calendar. As such, the RO has long been equipped with this complex calendar function and numerous versions have been made. Today, the brand adds a new colour to its collection, with new shades of blue that pay tribute to the original colour used by the watch in 1972. Meet the new blue editions of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar.?First launched in the mid-1980s under the reference 5554, first with non-leap year models, and then with leap year indication, the first generation Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar 39mm will remain largely unchanged for close to 30 years, as only discontinued in 2014. But it was only to make room for a new version, which
Bvlgari Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT Steel Hands-On
Since 2014 Bvlgari has set itself the challenge of producing some of the thinnest watches ever created. Following the thinnest tourbillon watch, the thinnest minute repeater watch, or?the thinnest automatic movement, the Rome-based brand decided to focus on the chronograph complication, and in 2019 it presented the Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic, the world’s thinnest chronograph watch and Bvlgari’s fifth record in the ultra-thin arena. Following the same recipe as?the automatic watch last year, today the brand introduces the Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT Steel, a sportier, more robust watch with increased water-resistance and bolder looks.?In its quest to produce ultra-thin watches, Bvlgari adopted a decidedly modern and contemporary approach merging traditional watchmaking codes with design cues from the hottest watch category these days: the luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet. And this road has been paved with success; the Octo Finissimo is now t
HIBAW: (Honey I Bought Another Watch!) On February 14th, Stop Thinking About Jeweled Movements For A Second and Start Thinking About Jewelry! - Monochrome Watches
It has been too long since we last posted a HIBAW story. But no worries, just in time for Valentine’s Day, our contributor Mario comes to the rescue!?St. Valentine's Day is upon us again. Time to tell our inamoratas that we love them! Shall we say it with chocolate? Too many calories! Shall we say it with roses? Roses fade and turn brown and sickly. Shall we say it with a poem etched into a card? Unless your last name is Shakespeare or Shelley or Keats don't bother; the words of the romantics can sometimes have two meanings' (yup - I just paraphrased Stairway to Heaven'!) My suggestion then it so say it with something unambiguous - DIAMONDS! Ad - Scroll to continue with article [A quotient of you will read this and ask yourselves: Why does he write these?' Why does Frank put them out there?' You say: I don't need help picking out gifts for my gal! All the
Watch from my year of birth - part 1 - Monochrome Watches
After the loads of information from the SIHH and Baselworld i am taking a break from blogging about news, more news and even more news. I still have lots of photos and a lot of information about the novelties released at Baselworld. No worries, i will blog about it later. One things that’s been keeping me busy for a long time already, is finding a watch from my year of birth. In my case this is 1971. Although no one of my watch buddies has been looking for a watch from their year of birth, I do wonder if this is common quest for watch addicts. For me finding a watch from my year of birth is really something special and i’ve spent many hours online searching for one. But no luck so far….Finding a vintage watch in original condition and in reasonable to good quality isn’t easy, especially not if it’s that old. Of course my taste is not making it any easier either. I’ve been thinking of some vintage sportswatches or maybe an old Heuer or maybe an old O
Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue M79030B - Specs & Price
This is it… Somehow unexpected but also envisioned by some collectors, the new Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue. We thought Tudor was not introducing new models this year, and they proved us wrong. First in line for 2020 (and maybe the only new model), a rather simple but efficient animation of an existing watch. Based on the praised and well-executed model introduced a couple of years ago, the brand now adds a cold colour scheme to its vintage-inspired diver.Blue is part of Tudor’s identity and has been widely used in past and modern models. We’re not going to go into full details here since we’ll be having a hands-on with this watch in a few days. But here’s what you need to know in a glance. Blue is an important colour for Tudor, mostly seen in the highly collectable Submariner watches manufactured for the French Navy (Marine Nationale). As such, we’ve seen multiple editions of modern Tudor watches presented in this desirable colour, including the 4
