Watches NEWS
Introducing: 7 New AP Code 11.59 Models in Pink Gold, With Textured Dials
Audemars Piguet reveals new models that showcase the evolutionary design introduced on the first stainless steel Code 11.59 references in 2023. To update the more subdued and widely criticized design of previous dials, a unique “signature” embossed dial pattern has been specially created for this collection, together with different hands and markers, in collaboration between the AP design team and Swiss guilloche craftsman Yann von Kaenel, which, as we have seen with its introduction, is a tremendous aesthetical improvement.?This appealing design now finds its way into an array of new Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 models in pink gold. The seven new references in this collection are presented in rose gold cases, with PVD-coated or galvanic-treated dials featuring the new stamped pattern with elongated, flattened, faceted, and polished 18k pink gold hour indices. The indices and rose gold hands are enhanced with luminescent material for optimal readability
Pre-SIHH 2017 - IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph
It has become sort of a tradition for IWC now. Each year, when the SIHH is about to open, we all know that the Schaffhausen-based manufacture will come with an entirely revisited collection. After the 2016 Pilot’s Watches, the 2015 Portugeisers, the 2014 Aquatimers and the 2013 Ingenieurs, it’s now time to revamp the other collection, a range of watches that might not be the most popular among a large audience: the?Da Vinci. An icon of the 1980s, this watch has since seen many variations, being even dressed in tonneau-shaped case. For the SIHH 2017, IWC goes back to the roots of the collection and, to?open the festivities, introduces the flagship version: the?IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. With the new Da Vinci collection, IWC Schaffhausen has returned to the round case that was so successfully established by the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar in 1985. It means we are bidding farewell to the tonneau case and reafirming our commitment to the classic proportions the
Baselworld 2019 - Oris Aquis GMT Date (Specs & Price)
The Oris Aquis is the cornerstone of the brand; a robust, no-nonsense, well-executed and well-positioned diver’s watch that perfectly sums up the brand’s philosophy. Available in multiple versions, with various complications (date, day-date, small seconds, chronograph, pointer-date or regulator), surprisingly this watch has never been equipped with a dual-time function. Problem solved at Baselworld 2019, with the new Oris Aquis GMT Date.?This new GMT edition of the Aquis is far from a revolution, as it shares most of its characteristics with other models of the collection. However, not revolutionary does not mean void of interest. It is surprising, but until today, the Aquis had never featured a dual-time/traveller’s/GMT complication. Admittedly, in the past, there was a watch called the Diver GMT, but this was the predecessor of the Aquis. For the 2019 edition of the Basel watch fair, Oris equips its famous diver’s watch with one of the most useful everyday com
Hands-On: The Blue Panda Tissot PRX Automatic Chronograph
At the end of last week, we’ve already shared with you our first hands-on sessions with two of the latest updates to the ultra-successful Tissot PRX collection, the Ice Blue dial on the Powermatic 80 model and the long-expected addition of integrated rubber straps to the collection. That wasn’t all we’ve seen, as we have more to share. Again, it’s all about a first look, a quick hands-on session to show you the watch in the metal. Based on the already existing PRX Automatic Chronograph, available so far in silver with black counters and gold-coloured accents, or in blue with reverse panda style, Tissot now adds a third version with a silver dial and blue panda layout. And here’s what it looks like in the wild.?When released last year, the?chronograph was the first and major update to the already well-established PRX collection. Coming next to the 35mm quartz models and the 40mm quartz and Powermatic 80 editions, the Tissot PRX Automatic Chronograph is by f
Buying Guide - Five watches with uniquely animated dials
The vast majority of wristwatches, mechanical or quartz, offers information on a flat 2D level. Sure, hands can be suspended a little bit above the dial, and you can even include some recessed or elevated indications for a chronograph or calendar complication, but that’s still on a horizontal plane. If you’re looking for a more dramatic and creative display of displaying time or any additional indications, you narrow it down to just a handful of brands. Sure, the inclusion of a tourbillon escapement visible on the dial side already changes things up, especially when it rotates on multiple axes. But what if you’re looking for even more than that? What if you want a watch with 3D animated displays and/or complications? Well, you’re in luck as these five watches might provide exactly what you’re looking for!Trilobe Une Folle JourneeWhen Trilobe first burst upon the independent watchmaking scene, it made some noise because of its unusual and captivating contin
