Patek Philippe introduces the 5712 in luxurious rose gold
The new Nautilus 5811 by Patek Philippe isn’t the only news of the day, as there are three further references under the Nautilus name. Although today’s release of the long-awaited 5711 replacement will undoubtedly steal the spotlight from the other “Nautilus class of 2022” models, rest assured, there’s plenty to be discovered with Patek’s super-luxurious take on the charmingly unbalanced 5712. Introducing the new 5712/1R in full rose gold and with a delicious chocolate brown dial.?As a true horological icon with a cult-like status perhaps only rivalled by the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Patek Philippe Nautilus needs little introduction. This luxury sports watch was first introduced in 1976 and has seen many iterations since. When news broke that the 5711 was being discontinued a little over a year ago, the rumour mill started churning. What would Patek do with its classical steel-and-blue sports watch? The answer is the white gold 5811/1G-001 rele
F.P.Journe Launches "Patrimoine", a new service to acquire past collections, restored in-house - Monochrome Watches
We, watch collectors, all know how difficult and risky it can be to purchase?a used watch. How can I verify the authenticity of the watch? Are all the parts originals? How the desired watch has been serviced or worn? What amount of trust?should I give to the seller? Is it a stolen watch? What warranty will it come with? Too many questions that some will never agree with?and thus, you will stick to new watches. To counteract this issue, F.P. Journe just launched Patrimoine, a new service for?collectors to enrich their collection by giving them the opportunity to purchase rare watches that are no longer manufactured (brass movement, unique pieces, limited editions), entirely serviced, controlled and restored in-house. Interesting, right? With this new F.P. Journe “Patrimoine” service, the deal is pretty simple. F.P. Journe sources and purchases, when an opportunity arises, watches from past collections that are no longer in production (think brass movement, unique pieces, and
Vertex M100B Black DLC Dirty Dozen Military Watch (Specs & Price)
Vertex is a one-of-a-kind brand, resurrected from the past, now back in business with some pretty cool toolish, military-inspired watches – and clearly, they are more than legitimate in this field! With a solid “Dirty Dozen” background behind these watches, the modern pieces done by Vertex have to be ready for action… And the brand’s latest piece is no exception to the rule. Meet the all-black, stealth looking Vertex M100B Black DLC.The “Dirty Dozen” ConnectionRe-incorporated 100 years after the company’s creation by the founder’s great-grandson, Vertex and its military-inspired watches are moving fast, with now two models in the collection – the 3-hand, modern interpretation of the MoD watches and the Monopusher Chronograph MP45 we already reviewed. But when talking Vertex, you have to keep in mind that these watches don’t come out of the blue and bear a true, legitimate pedigree. Ad - Scroll to continue with
Interview - Marc Aellen, CEO of Certina, On 2021 Models & Market Forcast
Founded by the Kurth brothers in 1888, Certina can look back on a rich history. Today Certina is a part of the mid-range brands of Swatch Group, which is also the entry-level to mechanical watches. Certina is catalogued in the Sports watch section, with a slight vintage flair. During the presentation of the brand's 2021 novelties in Geneva, we spent some time with the CEO of Certina Watches, Marc Aellen, to talk about the recent evolution of the brand, the growing demand for mechanical models, the impact of the pandemic, the future of the brand and of course the new watches that have been recently presented.Marc Aellen, CEO of Certina WatchesXavier Markl, MONOCHROME – Marc, how did you get into watches?Marc Aellen, Certina – My father was a watch designer in the Neuchatel region. When he passed away in 1998, I was still too young to take over his business. Naturally, growing up in the area, you get to learn and love watches. After I graduated in business administration, I h
Vacheron Constantin Historique American 1921 - driver's watch - Monochrome Watches
Vacheron Constantin released a re-issue of a 1920’s watch at SIHH 2009. The Historique American 1921 is probably one of the most beautiful watches Vacheron Constantin ever made, but it also has something weird…In 1919 Vacheron Constantin made a watch in a cushion shape case with a crown placed at the upper left corner, at the 11 ‘o clock position. Usually the crown is at right side of the case mostly at the 3 ‘o clock position, sometimes at the 4 ‘o clock position. Some watches even place the crown at the left side, at the 9 ‘o clock position. The crown position Vacheron Constantin has chosen is very remarkable. I believe this was a so called driver’s watch.Due to the crown position and the use of a conventional movement from a pocket watch, the dial is turned slightly so the 12 ‘o clock position is where the crown is, at the upper left corner. If the watch was worn on the right wrist, it was possible to read time while keeping your hands
