Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold 41mm & Redesigned Royal Oak Cufflinks - Monochrome Watches
Back in November 2016, as part of the pre-SIHH 2017 reveal, Audemars Piguet introduced a surprising and amazing version of its emblematic Royal Oak, the Frosted Gold version. This watch featured a?superb surface finishing known as gold hammering or frosting. And even with its 37mm case, we told you why, as men, we also liked it. However that was without knowing that the brand had something even more masculine in mind, as that same surface treatment has now been applied in a men’s version, with the?Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold 41mm… And that comes along with redesigned?Royal Oak Cufflinks (and we all know how cool they are). The?Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold 41mm?15410BCWhile I always tend to say that the 37mm edition of the Royal Oak shouldn’t be seen as a ladies-only model, as clearly it looks perfect for a man with smaller wrists, what Audemars Piguet has today makes no doubt on why?frosted gold isn’t just a feminine option. Because it is now
Baume & Mercier Clifton Baumatic 5 Days / Chronometer - Hands-On Review (Specs & Price)
Last month, we wrote about an unexpected new timepiece from an unexpected source: the Clifton Baumatic from Baume & Mercier. Officially unveiled at SIHH 2018, we had the chance to spend some time getting hands-on with this all-rounder/dress watch and were quite impressed with what we found. The big news was, of course, the introduction of the brand's first proprietary movement, coupled with a very accessible price. Upon closer inspection, however, we discovered there was a lot more to like.Over the last five years or so, in-house and proprietary movements have become very “en vogue”.? Whether that translates into better quality is probably still up for debate. More often than not, an in-house movement is indicative of higher pricing, which seems logical. Building a vertically-integrated manufacture capable of creating in-house movements from scratch is an expensive undertaking and those costs need to be recovered somehow. Right? Oris Aquis Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition II (specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
Oris is well known for creating high-quality watches with classical but pleasant design, all with an interesting price tag. Of course, we’re not talking about dream machines but the watches Oris produces are clearly to be considered for anyone seeking for a solid, well designed and reliable mechanical watch. Many collections exist, including racing chronographs or pilot watches, but the most famous series of watches concerns diving. Here is a new iteration, made jointly with the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) to help protect and preserve the Great Barrier Reef: the?Oris Aquis Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition II.The?Oris Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition II is based on one of the most successful watches made by the brand: the Aquis, a robust, efficient, well constructed dive watch, with a rather classical look. We’ve been testing it here?and our reaction was surprisingly good, knowing how snob the Monochrome-Watches team can be. The Oris Aquis is a perfect
Introducing the 2014 edition of the Oris Aquis Depth Gauge (specs and price) - Monochrome-Watches
Oris is known for its rugged, sporty tool-watches. The Aquis is famous into?the community?of divers – a collection that includes some interesting, technical, well finished but affordable tools to be used under the deep salty waters.?One is?particularly noticeable because it includes a clever mechanical depth gauge. Here is the?updated edition of the Oris Aquis Depth Gauge. The Oris Aquis Depth Gauge was hailed as one of the most innovative diving watches when it was launched in 2013. It answered the challenge of how to build a depth gauge into a mechanical watch. It had a pioneering depth gauge function, developed and patented by Oris. Even if we,?at Monochrome-Watches, mainly focus on high-end watches, we recognized that this Oris Aquis Depth Gauge was truly interesting when it was unveiled. And somehow, with its mechanical system to indicate depth, we found it really special – and we love special watches! Ad - Scroll to continue with article
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Polychrome L.E.
There’s the use of colours, and there’s the use of colours. And TAG Heuer has gone the extra mile to turn the already quite expressive Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon into something that radiates the colours of the rainbow. Using a unique PVD coating technique, the base dial is given a cool rainbow-like appearance, which almost looks like an oil slick under direct sunlight. Fun, expressive, and upholding the Carrera’s signature attributes, this is the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Polychrome limited edition.?The case for this Polychrome limited edition is constructed out of titanium, with a black PVD coating all around. On top sits a fixed bezel with a tachymeter scale, made of carbon fibre. The pull-out crown and chronograph pushers are also machined out of titanium and given the same black PVD coating. The domed and bevelled sapphire crystal on top protects the dial, while the black PVD-coated titanium with sapphire crystal caseback does the same for the m
