Weekly Watch Photo - Lange 1 Timezone for Concorso dEleganza - Monochrome Watches
There seems to become a new trend. Watch brands are making really lovely photos of their timepieces, like the IWC photos of the Big Pilot’s Watch we showed. Now we show you some new official photos A. Lange & Sohne made of the Lange 1 Timezone Piece Unique for Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este that we featured last week. The photos are made inside an old BMW 507 Roadster, a gorgeous classic and possibly one of my favorite cars of all times! Lange & Sohne took the ‘piece unique’ and draped it over a leather driver’s glove on the steering wheel. Like the name already indicates it is a watch with an extra time zone indication. The main hour and minute hand are
Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Passion // Introducing, Specs & Price
Introduced earlier this year during the Festival Automobile International in Paris, this Laureato Absolute Passion is decked out in racing red and sleek black livery to celebrate the brand's partnership with the event. A limited edition of 50 watches, this chronograph joins the edgier, more contemporary Laureato Absolute watch sub-family distinguished by black PVD-coated titanium cases, impressive 300m water-resistance and in-house movements. Origins of the LaureatoWhen it was first introduced in 1975, the Laureato was positioned as the brand's take on the luxury sports watch, a new genre that had just hit the markets in 1972 onboard Gerald Genta's trailblazing Royal Oak for Audemars Piguet. Originally presented in a matte steel case with touches of gold, the modular design of the Laureato was distinguished by its polished gold octagonal bezel, a cushion-shaped case, an integrated bracelet with a gold stripe and a white hobnail pattern embossed on the dial. Hands-On The Nomos Club Sport neomatik 37 Petrol Green
Since the release of its first collection in 1992, Nomos has never ceased to please with its minimalist designs, nice movements (specifically since it moved to in-house in 2005) and a particular flair for fun and lightness. Fresh, young, very German and at the same time thinking outside the box, the brand has recently made a move towards sportier, bolder designs, moving away from its traditional Bauhaus codes. We’ve seen this with the Club or Ahoi collections, particularly the 42mm Club Sport neomatik date, standing out with its 300m water-resistance, striking dial and steel bracelet. But, in my books, it was (way) too large. Problem solved with the new Nomos Club Sport neomatik 37. And now that it has made it to my wrist, I’m wondering if this could be a perfect Explorer alternative.Looking at this new Club Sport 37mm, another watch immediately came to mind: the classic Explorer 36mm,? one of my all-time favourites. Putting the vintage models aside (mostly the reference
Omega expands the Speedmaster 38mm collection with sparkling diamond-set versions - Monochrome Watches
The Speedmaster 38mm made its debut in 2017. Among the most popular iterations of this smaller Speedmaster is the Cappuccino in 18K Sedna? Gold, with horizontal brown oval subdials and vertical oval date window at 6 o'clock. This year, Omega expands the collection with 8 new sparkling versions set with diamonds and a choice of 2 dial colours. The luxurious setting of these new iterations includes a paved bezel (~1.5 carats), diamond-ringed subdials and a diamond-set crown. Eight new iterations of the Omega Speedmaster 38mm introduce a more luxurious and more glamourous twist to the model, slightly moving away from its sporty character by omitting the tachymeter bezel in favor of much larger stones. Among these, two versions come in 18K Sedna Gold featuring a chocolate brown PVD dial with horizontal silvery subdials, while another two are crafted in 18K Moonshine Gold, boasting a green PVD dial with similar subdials. Additionally, four new steel versions ar
Porsche Goes Full-Electric on Road, on Track... and on Track with a Road Car - Monochrome Watches
Your weekly dosage of electricity-infused car news is up… That’s how we will probably start our automotive-related articles in a decade from now! For guys of passion like us, here at MONOCHROME, the topic of electric cars is still quite far from our usual standards of petrol-loaded dreams. Passion is what makes us love cars and watches. Passion is our own fuel, and fuel is what powers our passion. But enough digressions, today’s topic is about Porsche and how the Stuttgart-based brand is trying (hard) to keep up with the reality of emissions and eco-friendly behaviour and to integrate what Porsche has been for now over 60 years: a thing of passion. And you’ll see, they are not only trying but making it real.On the Road – Porsche TaycanHeretic, scandalous, irrelevant… We’ve heard those words from hardcore Porsche fans more than once. They did it in 1996 when the brand introduced its entry-level Boxster. They did it in 1997 when Porsche stopped t
