This wristwatch is innovated with chronograph mechanism, with the help of which the timepiece tracks the date, day, hours, minutes, and seconds with great precision. Apart from that, the two subsidiary dials, one of 60 seconds and the other of 60 minutes, also sit on the watch. First look: The Breitling 140th-Anniversary Trio of New Perpetual Calendar models
Founded in 1884 and celebrating its 140th anniversary this year, Breitling is no stranger to innovation and important milestones. In 1915, it launched the first wrist-worn chronograph with an independent pusher. In 1934, it patented a watch with a second independent pusher. In 1969, it participated in the creation of one of the first automatic chronograph movements, the Chronomatic or Calibre 11. In 2009, the brand released its first in-house-developed movement, the Calibre B01. Today, it’s time for yet another important movement to be presented, the Calibre B19, the first in-house perpetual calendar movement of Breitling… And yes, there are watches to be equipped with it too.The Breitling Calibre B19In-house manufacturing became important for Breitling back in 2009, when the brand introduced the calibre B01, its first internally developed and produced movement. This movement, an automatic, integrated chronograph with column-wheek and vertical clutch, opened the door to fur
Patek Philippe Calatrava 6007A Limited Edition (Specs & Price)
To celebrate the completion of its new production building in Plan-les-Ouates (near Geneva) Patek Philippe is releasing a new limited edition Calatrava watch with unprecedented design and stainless steel case. Construction work for the building began in 2015 and the result is an impressive 10-storey high building with a length of nearly 200 metres. Classical in its specifications, this watch will certainly remind you of a certain ultra-expensive unique model. Let’s have a look at the new Patek Philippe Calatrava 6007A Limited Edition. The design of the new Patek Philippe Calatrava 6007A is reminiscent of the unique piece donated to Only Watch 2017; the titanium-cased minute repeater, chronograph, perpetual calendar reference?5208T that achieved CHF 6.2 million. Indeed, while the watches are playing in completely different leagues – one being one of the most complex Patek models and the other being a simple time-and-date – the design is pretty identical, with similar di
COLUMN - An Apple by any other name is a Moser? A look at the H. Moser & Cie Swiss Alp Watch - Monochrome Watches
The definition of Irish Alzheimer's is when all you can remember are your grudges. Some people just won't let things go; they develop a grudge and carry it around morning, noon and night. It seems that in their own tongue-in-cheek way, H. Moser & Cie (the present-day David of the watch industry) is about to cast a few stones jewels at Goliath! And here,?the stones?jewels that David hide in his pockets are named the?H. Moser & Cie Swiss Alp Watch. An Idyllic LandscapeEverything in the watch industry was going so well. There was a chronometer on every wrist and a tourbillon on every wish list. Then along comes Apple. First they introduced an iPod so small that it was virtually useless as a device to play music on and only found its true calling in life when someone put it on a NATO strap and displayed the time on it. Several years (and billions of dollars in R&D) later we have the Apple Watch. You can't actually do' anything with it - but it will tell the time and let you know
Great read for the holidays - Monochrome Watches
My friend and fellow blogger Robert-Jan lent me some of his books about watches. He is very passionate about Omega and i will do a post about these books later, especially because they come in handy with the upcoming Antiquorum Auction in New York, where a lot of very special vintage Omega watches will be auctioned. Some of these books are perfect ‘coffee table’ books but on a lazy sunday afternoon they are an excellent read. Besides these books there are also the reference books. One of my personal favorites is ‘Vintage Sports Watches’ written by Skeet & Urul. I don’t look at it as the ‘coffee table’ book, but this book has become a reference bible for everything i want to know about sportswatches. Introducing: Hanhart Resuscitates its White Pilot with the 417 ES Moby Dick
Hanhart, the German brand that started life in Switzerland as a manufacturer of stopwatches before relocating to Germany in 1902, gained renown as a producer of Flieger (pilot's) chronographs. In the mid-1950s, Hanhart built the 417, the first pilot's chronograph for the German Armed Forces, with an emphasis on robustness, reliability, and readability. In circulation until 1963, the 417 was retired, allowing Hanhart to focus on stopwatches. But there was another lesser-known Hanhart 417 waiting in the wings, known among collectors as the Moby Dick. Identical in build to the 417 but with a white dial, the Moby Dick was adopted by admirals and doctors in the navy and, given its scarcity, had become a coveted collector's piece. The vintage watch that was used as an inspiration for the new 417 ES Moby DickIn 2020, Hanhart reissued the legendary 417 pilot's chronograph. While the case and dial faithfully respected many traits of its ancestor, the modern version of the Hanhart 417 ES reflecte
