Baselworld 2019 - Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G 79363N (Hands-On, Specs & Price)
When Tudor first introduced its Black Bay Chrono model in 2017, there was a hullabaloo about incorporating chronograph functions on board a 200m water-resistant vintage-inspired dive watch. A diver without a rotating bezel replaced by a fixed tachymeter scale for the chronograph functions? For many, the combination of functions was unwarranted but over time, the initial animosity was replaced by enthusiasm. For 2019, the Black Bay Chrono is back in a 41mm bold two-tone steel and gold model with a host of bracelet and strap choices. The Midas TouchThe steel and gold case is by no means a novelty; Frank reviewed the Black Bay S&G model two years ago and predicted the unexpected return to two-tone case combinations. Following suit, the 41mm steel case of the new Black Bay Chrono S&G model is spruced up with yellow gold pushers (screwed to ensure the 200m water-resistance) along with a fixed (non-rotating) bezel in yellow gold with a black anodised aluminium insert for the tachymetr
Bvlgari presents a fully blacked out version of the Bvlgari Bvlgari
Mysterious and enticing, the colour black is a much-used element in watchmaking. Sometimes for the sake of contrast and sometimes purely for styling purposes. Black touches on a dial, case or movement can give a new look to a watch, which we regularly see being done. Bvlgari has played around with the achromatic colour on several occasions across all its collections. Now it’s Bvlgari Bvlgari’s turn, one of the brand’s oldest collections still in production. This basic round watch can look back at more than 40 years of evolution and now comes in an all-black suit with the new Bvlgari Bvlgari 103540.Bvlgari presents two versions of the Bvlgari Bvlgari in full black, a 33mm quartz model and a 41mm mechanical version. The Bvlgari Bvlgari comes in a relatively simple round stainless steel case with the signature Bvlgari Bvlgari design. The case has integrated lug sections, a double-signed bezel (much like the Bvlgari Aluminium, just not rubber coated) and a see-through cas
Six of the best new dive watches of the year, so far.
The dive watch. The embodiment of a product that is over-engineered for what most owners will use it for yet remains ever so popular. Admittedly, even I own dive watches that never see any action close to the limits of either of them. But there is a thought of comfort to put one on and go about your business care-free, knowing your watch will do its job and does it well. And year after year, new dive watches are presented, from affordable to luxury to high-end. And even though it’s still only March, we’ve seen a fair share of very cool, very capable new divers. And here’s six of the best of 2022… so far that is.Longines Legend DiverThe Longines Legend Diver is a watch that defines the look of the compressor-style diver (even though technically, it isn't one). It's a watch that needs little introduction amongst enthusiasts and collectors. Ever since it was reintroduced by Longines, we've seen multiple new editions with bold, fresh new colours and materials like b
Introducing the Tudor Pelagos Blue and Black with new In-House movement - Monochrome Watches
In 2012 Tudor introduced the Pelagos ref.25500TN, a watch that we consider Tudor’s answer on the Sea-Dweller. The ultimate tool watch, made in light and technical looking titanium, and water resistant to 500 meters. Here at Monochrome we have a thing for proper tool watches and the Pelagos perfectly fits the bill. Last year we predicted that Tudor would launch a blue Pelagos and, since they didn’t, and we really wanted to see that one, we predicted it this year again. Here it is, finally, the Tudor Pelagos Blue, and it now comes with Tudor’s new in-house movement.Tudor’s new in-house movement is the calibre MT5612 and packs 70 hours of power reserve. Even better, when you know that the price of the Pelagos will not be raised much in comparison to the previous model, and is set at a very decent (read: competitive) CHF 4200 Swiss Francs (including 8% VAT). Do you have your attention now? An ultimate diving tool, rating to 500m, with a brand new in-house designed
