If you want to invest in a timepiece that is fashionable yet sophisticated, this piece would be perfect for you. It has an attractive blue dial that is set with silver-toned Arabic numerals and alpha styled hands. The watch features a subdial that indicates the days of the week. Swatch Sistem51 - Monochrome-Watches
The Swatch Sistem51 is certainly the cheapest watch we’ve ever featured on Monochrome-Watches and we are doing it without any shame or regrets. Why? The Sistem51 is clearly one of the most important novelties presented during the last 10 years. As the first Swatch did in 1983, this new automatic watch is a major industrial milestone that COULD (I have to insist on the ‘could’ because, for the moment, we are not sure of possible future developments) change the face of the Swatch Group and of the whole industry.History of SwatchSwatch (which stands for ‘second watch’, because of its affordable price and casual look) was born in the early 1980s, just in the middle of the ‘Quartz Crisis’. At that time, the actors of the watchmaking industry in Switzerland were all intensely affected by the arrival of cheap Japanese quartz watches and production numbers became lower than at any time before. However, a very simple but clever idea saved the industry.
Pre SIHH 2015: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Spherotourbillon Moon - Monochrome-Watches
The SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, based in Geneva) will take place very soon and almost every day, pre-show?novelties continue to arrive on our desk. After revealing a very special edition of the Master Calendar, with a meteorite dial, Jaeger-LeCoultre is coming now with a masterpiece. Not only is this watch absolutely beautiful to look at, but it also comes with a very complicated movement, a bi-axial tourbillon so-called?Spherotourbillon, now with an added moon-phase indicator. Here is the?Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Spherotourbillon Moon. The?Spherotourbillon is one of?Jaeger-LeCoultre‘s finest, together with the?Gyrotourbillon. We’ve already covered it in a previous article about the?Duometrea Spherotourbillon. This watch is based on two main innovations, both included in its name: the Duometre and the?Spherotourbillon. Hands-On Bell & Ross BR 03-92 MA-1 Military Bomber Jacket (Specs & Price)
Earlier this year at Baselworld, Bell & Ross presented the BR 03-92 MA-1, a classic square-shaped BR 03 model with a khaki and orange colour scheme poached directly from the US Air Force MA-1 bomber jacket of 1958. With its contrasting matte khaki ceramic case and vivid orange accents, this time-and-date model drew crowds to the stand and became an instant hit. Finally available in shops and online for those who pre-ordered the watch, we spent some hands-on time with the watch and this is what we found…Military BriefBell & Ross took off as a brand in 2005 following the launch of the square-shaped BR 01 Instrument watch with its cockpit instrument-inspired looks. The BR family - now comprised of BR 01 (46mm), BR 03 (42mm) models and BR S (39mm) – has grown considerably since then and is the most pre-eminent ambassador of the brand. Nobody with an interest in watches could fail to identify the square profile of the BR and its overt connections to the world of aviation

Watches come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from very affordable to very expensive and everything in between. Throughout our weekly Buying Guide search to group together a selection of watches with a common theme, we thought it was time to take a look at some of the classiest watches you can buy at the moment. Classy watches with a healthy dose of personality of course, as we don’t want something ordinary or downright boring on the wrist, now do we? And to follow up on last week’s somewhat attainable selection, we’ve kept the budget low again. Let’s get straight into it!Raymond Weil Millesime Central SecondsThe Millesime by Raymond Weil came out of the blue and caused quite a sensation, not in the least for its elegant good looks. The contemporary take on the vintage sector dial is executed to perfection, with the salmon-coloured Central Seconds model being one of the stand-out pieces in the collection. With a 39,25mm by 9.25mm stainless steel case, it’s
Introducing the Ulysse Anchor Escapement - Monochrome Watches
Earlier this year at Baselworld, Ulysse Nardin introduced an entirely new escapement that is referred to as the Ulysse Anchor Escapement. While its name does not immediately give away what it’s all about, it can best be seen in relation to previous ground-breaking developments of the brand, who were the first to introduce a silicon escapement wheel, and for that matter silicon in a wrist watch movement. That was with the introduction of the Freak, back in 2001. Fast forward to the December 2012, when Monochrome broke the story of Girard-Perregaux’s new silicon escapement (and we’re not just talking about the escape wheel or pallet fork, but about the entire escapement) we immediately recognized the potential game-changing qualities. Ulysse Nardin’s new Ulysse Anchor Escapement works in more or less a similar way, and we believe it holds equal, or more, game-changing properties. Let us explain what the new escapement actually is, and why it is, potentially, such
