RZE Endeavour Polaris White and Resolute Arctic - Review, Price
The go-to material for the majority of microbrands is stainless steel as it’s plentiful, durable, and relatively easy to work with. RZE has bucked the trend with an affordable diver and field watch dressed in full titanium, both at accessible prices. Of course, titanium isn’t a new material for watches, but it’s usually reserved for more established brands and carries a bit of a premium. Both RZE Endeavour models we have on hand - the Endeavour Polaris White and Resolute Arctic Grey - bring a lot to the table with a solid blend of form and function.THE BRANDRZE was founded in 2020 and is based in Singapore and Malaysia. Travis Tan, his wife Vivian, and longtime friend Clarence launched the first titanium Resolute Field Watch on Kickstarter, anxious and unsure how things would play out. Within six minutes, the campaign reached $30,000 and was fully funded. Needless to say, the trio had a successful formula. Travis also happens to be a commercial airline pilot, so he kn
Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur (Live Pics, Specs & Price)
Ulysse Nardin’s history has been founded on Marine roots, as for over a century, the brand has been one of the main providers of Marine Chronometers. Since a few months, we’ve?seen some extremely pleasant?evolutions of the collections: new and more subtle?designs, slightly?vintage inspiration, easily?wearable watches. With this in mind, Ulysse Nardin unveils the Marine Torpilleur, a well-thought-out facelift reinvigorating the brand's emblematic Marine collection. Here is an early hands-on look at this classic yet urban timepiece. In the 18th century, developing a method to determine longitude at sea was one of the principal scientific endeavors. Precision timekeeping brought a major leap forward in navigation and the marine chronometer became one of the most fundamental of all shipboard instruments. In the city of Le Locle, in the Jura Mountains, Ulysse Nardin earned a reputation for producing exceptional deck chronometers. Very few watch manufactures have exhibited such th
Vertex M100B Black DLC Dirty Dozen Military Watch (Specs & Price)
Vertex is a one-of-a-kind brand, resurrected from the past, now back in business with some pretty cool toolish, military-inspired watches – and clearly, they are more than legitimate in this field! With a solid “Dirty Dozen” background behind these watches, the modern pieces done by Vertex have to be ready for action… And the brand’s latest piece is no exception to the rule. Meet the all-black, stealth looking Vertex M100B Black DLC.The “Dirty Dozen” ConnectionRe-incorporated 100 years after the company’s creation by the founder’s great-grandson, Vertex and its military-inspired watches are moving fast, with now two models in the collection – the 3-hand, modern interpretation of the MoD watches and the Monopusher Chronograph MP45 we already reviewed. But when talking Vertex, you have to keep in mind that these watches don’t come out of the blue and bear a true, legitimate pedigree. Ad - Scroll to continue with
Review Tudor Black Bay Pro GMT 79470 (Live Pics, Specs & Price)
Since the introduction of two important watches within the Tudor collection, namely the Black Bay GMT and the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, the watch community has been asking for a mix of the two concepts. Basically, a Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight GMT. Tudor responded but decided to spice things up a little bit. And the result is this watch, the Tudor Black Bay Pro. Yes, it’s 39mm like the BB58. And yes, it has a GMT function, like the BB Pepsi. But no, it’s not just a simple blend of these two. The BB Pro is fairly different, pretty cool and very much a tool watch that can do it all. And, at least to me, it really is one of the best instrument watches I’ve seen this year. But being a fan of the Explorer II (older models, of course, not the huge modern versions), this watch somehow speaks to me. Even though we’ll see, it isn’t perfect either.?If I had to sum it up, the new Tudor Black Bay Pro is the perfect adventure watch. It’s robust and legible; it featu
Introducing Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Tourbillon Retrograde Openface (Live Pics)
As they say, if you've got it, flaunt it. Vacheron Constantin's latest combination of a tourbillon with a retrograde date display does just that and stages its refined mechanics in a contemporary, multi-level openworked dial. As a historic manufacture that listens to current trends, Vacheron Constantin welcomes another model into its traditional Traditionelle collection with an ultra-contemporary yet refined 21st-century aesthetic.Openworked or skeletonised watches are in vogue, no doubt about that, and we tend to think they are novel ways of exposing mechanical movements. However, if you're a company like Vacheron Constantin with a 268-year history, chances are you might even have a couple of openworked models in your archives. It turns out that VC did, in fact, have an openworked model in its archives in the form of a pocket watch with an astronomical calendar from 1918 (ref. 10937). Following a hiatus of almost 100 years, VC revisited the openworked dial concept with ref. 47247 in 2
