A. Lange & Sohne Little Lange 1 Edition 25th Anniversary - Monochrome Watches
At the start of the year, A. Lange & Sohne announced that 2019 would be dedicated to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Lange 1. A total of 10 anniversary models are due to be unveiled this year, celebrating the key milestones of the Lange 1 watch family. So far, we have seen been treated to the Lange 1 25th Anniversary and Lange 1 Moon Phase 25th Anniversary models. Now we are getting our first look at the Little Lange 1 25th Anniversary.A watch that needs no introduction, the Lange 1 was one of the four cornerstone models of the brand's rebirth in 1994. Over the years it has evolved to become a stand-alone collection in its own right. Four years later, the Little Lange 1 joined the line-up as a permanent member. Identical in almost every way to the original, the Little Lange 1 offers a case that is 1.7mm smaller, a great option for those with smaller (or more slender) wrists. Recap: The Best Calendar Watches Of 2023
Next up in our rundown of this year’s ‘Greatest Hits’ is a list of calendar watches, specifically Annual and Perpetual Calendar watches. Looking back at what brands have brought to the table in this category only confirms the appeal of a watch that keeps track of more than just the passing of time. With indications that need little to no adjustments over the year, these calendar watches are some of the most complex on the market. But they come at a price as these complications are a) not easy to come by and b) not exactly affordable. Nevertheless, here is MONOCHROME’s selection of the Best Calendar Watches from 2023!From classy to robust and from ultra-thin to oversized, this list will take you in all directions. The preselection for the calendar watch category wasn’t as expansive as the Best of Chronograph or Dive watch lists, but there was real debate within the team to narrow it down to just five. A few exceptional watches didn’t make the cut but
A Collected Man to Sell Philippe Dufour Grande et Petite Sonnerie
Monsieur Dufour, as I like to call him, is one of the most revered watchmakers of Switzerland. Sort of a legend of the independent watchmaking scene, a person who’s capable of manufacturing some of the most refined movements you’ll ever come to see… And a man with very limited production. Of course, this combination of desirability and rarity already had its effect on the prices of Philippe Dufour’s watches, since a Simplicity can reach over USD 1 Million, and even more for a Duality. But what has just surfaced today is even more exclusive, being one of the rarest and most complex modern watches; one of the 8 Philippe Dufour Grande et Petite Sonnerie wristwatches ever made. And A Collected Man, the London-based online platform specialized in high-end watches, has listed this example for public sale at… USD?7.63 million. And that could become a new world record. If the Simplicity can be seen as the purest expression of Dufour’s talent, and the Duality
Introducing The Hublot Square Bang Unico Sapphire & Ceramic (Live Pics & Price)
The Hublot Big Bang was the brainchild of savvy marketer Jean-Claude Biver. Launched in 2005, its burly case, extroverted personality and fusion of different materials have consolidated the Big Bang as the brand’s flagship model. Last year, the Big Bang welcomed a sibling known as the Square Bang Unico, with, as you have intuited, a square case. During Watches & Wonders 2023, Hublot unveils three new editions of the Square Bang Unico in black and white ceramic cases and an impressive transparent sapphire crystal case.Judging by the popularity of the Square Bang, taking the genetic traits of the Big Bang and reallocating them inside a square-shaped case seems to have worked. All the manifest personality quirks of the Big Bang are featured on the Square Bang: the six H-shaped titanium screws in the bezel, the modular sandwich construction of the case with its lateral protective bumpers, rubber-clad chrono pushers and crown, and the mandatory ‘fusion’ of high-tech ma
Introducing the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve Collection Excellence Platine - Monochrome Watches
Shortly before the Watches & Wonders fair in Hong Kong, Vacheron Constantin adds a new version of the beautiful calibre 2475 to the Collection Excellence Platine. Originally introduced into the collection in the legendary Jubilee 1755, in 2005, and since 2008 available in the Quai de l’Ile collection, it now returns in a lovely classically styled execution: the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve Collection Excellence Platine. Since its creation in 2006 Vacheron Constantin’s Collection Excellence Platine pays homage to the purity of the material platinum. Platinum is 95% pure, compare that to 18-carat gold that is just 75% pure gold. The additional 25% determines the colour of gold (pink, rose, red, yellow or white.) Platinum usually is mixed with 5% palladium or copper. Watches in the Collection Excellence Platine are always individually numbered and never exceeding 150 pieces per model. This Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power reserve features
